This is happening since Uprising day one, at this point I really came to the doubt was it made on purpose to have invisible targets when aiming long distance objects, infantry, installations (through scopes as turrets , tank turrets or snipers) or is it just a ****** bug? it should be fixed as soon as possible and not to be considered a minor issue instead, it gets annoying using a tank but unable to be aware of enemies positions...please CCP |

...also, only infantry tags are sometimes visible but the clones are not, aiming and shooting becomes a guess. |

Unfortunately, it's not a bug but a 'feature' of Uprising to help the performance of object rendering & reduce lag. Due to the massive maps & huge player/vehicle battles that we have. |

It's not a bug. It's intended design to improve rendering performance and at least help with dealing with the lag. This will be important once the matches grow to larger teams of say 24v24 or more. |

Hint. It seems that the weapon you use has an effect on the rendering distance you can get. Snipers have a longer render distance when compared to assaults wielding an smg. |

I think render distance is pointless. Rather, why not just render anything that is in your current viewing direction plus a little outside that so that when you turn it's already there? Also, will performance really drop that badly if a few more objects were rendered? Because if it does, render distance is a lame solution to making a game perform better.
It's extremely annoying when I'm in my railgun tank and I'm sniping an installation or another tank and they suddenly disappear. It's the dumbest reason for letting an enemy tank get away. Also, you can't track their movement so now suddenly whoever you were sniping from an unknown to them location starts hitting you with their railgun and you've no idea where it's coming from because they magically appeared on the other side of the map.
Edit: I want to add that you can have enemy installations sniping you from their base and you have no idea where it's coming from. I was in my railgun Falchion near my ground spawn and every time I got out of cover, a railgun from their ground spawn would hit me. And it never rendered for me. Funny thing was, the CRU and supply depot rendered for me, but not what was shooting me |

Yes, I've learned to shoot long distance turret installations you don't actually see, but u can destroy them if u know where they are. This shouldn't happen |

I'm new to the game, have only been playing it about a month... I only came in after uprising and thought that the long distance invisibility thing was a stupid feature that would go away as you skill up (I know, nooby...). But I have to say that this is actually a huge game killer, because:
- If you're a sniper, you can only provide cover for 1 or 2 points depending on your position. And I consider counter-sniping a part of the sniper's role and the hole idea of providing cover.
- If you're NOT a sniper you cannot do any meaningful reconnaissance to see where the snipers are, which means that you find out the hard way... By dying when going to take an undefended point.
- If you're using a tank with some long range turrets (Large Railgun and so on)... Well... Massive waste of skill points...
For me this is the number 1 problem on Dust at the moment. The somewhat vague upclose aiming with the DS3 does not really bother me anymore, although I'd like that fixed...
But this resource saving feature is actually a lousy idea... |

This needs to be fixed. How is a sniper going to counter snipe when they cant even find the enemy. If this is not fixed I would like my SP back so I can try another weapon. This makes being a sniper useless. |

The Devs have commented on wanting to get the draw distance back to Chromosome levels (Pre-release for New Berries). There is little doubt it is very important and breaks gameplay drastically but pretty graphics are more important than a game where one can see the enemy that is shooting at them.
Search for invisible swarms, that makes the situation very clear.
Technically if this was a PC game the draw distance would/could be user settable as would FOV (field of view). Ideally it would be in consoles as well but I have no game that allows it. My console selection is small (~60-75 for both) so there might be several that I have never seen nor heard of. Boarderlands 2 on PC allows them to be set if you want a known PC example. |
