why is it that on any given map 70% of the turrets are in useless positions, either in a crater, up on hill, in a corner facing nothing but the other side of a wall. and the missile turrets are the worst I can only think of 1 or 2 that lets you aim anywhere near the objective,
if I was planning the defence of these important objectives id make sure 1 or 2 overlooked, if anything it gives a secondary objective to take, so that the monogamy of everyone pile in and take the objective would be broken.
a few decent overwatch positions, or machine gun emplacements, just to keep it spicy .. !

I don't want to burst your bubble, but you can purchase turrets with ISK and place them where ever you want. |

im not on about that, im on about the ones that are provided at the start of the map, and one of those piddle turrets doesn't make up for a decent static mg position with a few sand bags. |

I believe the "useless" turrets at the back of maps that can't really hit anything are more of an anti-air measure, at least that's what they seem to be most useful for.
The rest of the turret placement s fine, put them in places too obvious/ open and they'll be taken down by an AV a Tank or another Turret in no time. Remember that in battle, the more you can see, the more you can be seen, (Well most of the time, there are exceptions.) kinda like with sniping, you don't want to be at the top of the hill where anyone can easily spot you, you gotta find a good spot that has decent view, and cover, which is how most turrets are located.
Just look at some of those turrets on the bridge map, there are some with pretty good view of the map, but they usually get taken out within the first couple of mins of the match, precisely because they're too open, and any militia AV fit can just run and take them down in 3 shots. |

things should become a little more interesting with the introduction of the MCC Commander, if and when they ever get around to it...
but yeah the static turrets mostly suck... theres one or two that can take out half the turrets in the match within 2-3 minutes on a couple of the maps, so much fun to abuse them and destroy all structures on the field. you can take out 2 supply depots, 2 CRUs, and i think 7 turrets on the new map without ever leaving redline from attackers side, the defender side cant hit the two CRUs as easily, but the turrets and supply depots are mostly still fair game pending what installation is there. |

that's the 30% that you can aim, again it just seems dumb to me to have a turret that you stand beside with no cover, as for anti air, I don't think theres a gun in the game that doesn't take down a dropship.. ha ha whats wrong with sticking a minigun on a railing inside the facilitys |
