I have to say I really did enjoy myself during the event. I was one of the lucky few that got to become a templar and rebel against that one insane woman. I was placed in a roll in a storyline which I thought was amazing. Then I started to see how it was going wrong and thinking about how to improve it.
First off, I would LOVE to see events regurarly that have a deep storyline that play into the game/faction warfare ect ect. This is really an amazing way to keep the community involved.
- Communication. When you put someone into a RPG roll, telling them they have a specific background story, a specific role, give them more than the standard welcome to Dust e-mail. The e-mail should be more about the conflict and their role in it.
- Skill points and the sandbox. One thing CCP preaches is the sandbox. You are your own merc and you can make your own choices and I love this about CCP. I will probably get flamed for this but I think you should not get SP to make your own mercenary in events. I say this for a few reasons. First and foremost you are playing a role in a story. In this case we are TemplarGÇÖs rebelling against the Empress. We are given BPOGÇÖs of drop suits, weapons, equipment. Along with that 2 million and 1 skill points to skill however we want. Personally I stuck with the story line, skilling into the laser rifle, pistol, and stuck to being Amarr. I noticed a lot of TemplarGÇÖs simply skilled up in TACGÇÖs or skilled into tanks. This does nothing for the event. I am glad to see we had to use the Templar Dropsuit but still, if we are going to have an event we should have those people play a role, actually in the role. My suggestion is that the Templar or whatever it will be next time, already have their skills filled out, skilled into the weapons that faction has, suits, ect ect.
- Equipment. Being hunted is hard. Damn hard. No longer are you just another red dot, youGÇÖre a red dot with a bounty and everyone comes out of the wood works for you. Give us ADV gear during the event. We should have been in at least ADV basic suits, or STD specialized suits so that way we had something going for us. I am not sure how many other TemplarGÇÖs stuck with the Templar weapons, I doubt many, but if you gave us ADV weapons, and ADV equipment, more people will stick with them and not die after being shot once, and who knows, we might actually be able to fight back.
- ISK. We need it. Some starting isk will help.
- Corps: The Templars should have had a corp to them selfs, along with any future events should have their own corp to promote working with each other.
