First off, I think that Dust is a lot of fun the way it is now. I've been reading a lot of posts from people who thoroughly dislike this game and compare it to other FPS. What's wrong with that is that Dust is being compared to completed games. Besides some stupid gun camo or extra map dlc, other FPS's are basically finished. If Dust is going to be anything like EVE online, the game will never be completed. How could a FPS/RPG player want anything more? Hating and giving up on this game now is like giving up on your favorite team based on preseason performance or puting a book down after the first paragraph. Id love to read others thoughts on this. |

Many of us have been here for over a year and are really tired of CCP's "one step forward, two steps back" approach to developing this game. |

We should only have to wait about 7-10 years then. Great deal. It'll be on PC by then I guess. |

Sounds like you're still referring to the free DLC CCP does for EVE every so often. The problem at a lot of people had and still have, is that they don't have a dedicated community manager for Dust, browsing all day every day (I'd be happy to do that for some cash - if I have their ears directly). They're still working on a ton of balance issues, post-release. There are still a ton of bugs, post-release. They changed what some skills did when they deployed Uprising without changing the descriptions, or putting that information in the patch notes. As such, a lot of people complained, and rightly so. Even those that have been on EVE since the beginning couldn't honestly tell us to HTFU and keep moving. The vehicle powergrid skill used to give us +5% to max PG per level; now, it unlocks access to the PG upgrade modules, and reduces the CPU of them by a percentage each level. They didn't put that in the patch notes, nor did they have the correct description when vehicle pilots logged on and started using their SP.
What games would you consider complete? You can't consider a game where you get DLC with a preorder to be complete. That simply means they were too lazy or too squeezed on time to put it in the game, so they bundle it with a preorder, and make everybody else pay for it that didn't preorder it. That's not complete. Having to work on bugs that pop up over time does not make a game incomplete. Core mechanics and physics issues, including major bugs such as being stuck on a loading screen every other battle, makes a game incomplete. LAV physics make it seem as if we're fighting on dwarf planets or moons, rather than what we'd consider today a full-sized planet.
That is what makes Dust incomplete. Not knowing that they'll be fixing little things over time, and giving us free DLC. That's just ongoing, planned and expected occurrences. |

That whole "This game will never truly be complete/ten year plan/Im a fanboy on my knees fellatting CCP" spiel is really getting old A lot of us see the game for what it is, shoddily made and poorly managed, and if CCP wants a true success on their hand instead of a pet project financed by eve subs they need to get their asses in gear and work like they've never worked before or get crushed by other teams in what is a highly competitive genre |

Dust is going to be great "soon". What will it evolve into? I don't really know; but it will be awesome.
Can't wait for the market between EVE and Dust514 to open up; all those proto stompers are going to get screwed and their k/d ratio will plummet. My advice: get good with militia gear and hoard proto gear. |

I have hope as well regardless of the headaches it gave me. I'm pretty sure Eve Online players had to put up with constant negative feedback during their launch as well back in 2003. |

I gotta disagree with you, I don't think it is badly made, especially for a free to play game, I havnt spent a penny yet. I truly think that the team works hard and reacts quickly to issues. Some argue that this game is pay to win, I disagree to that too. The payment/aur aspect is my favorite part. There is something extremely satisfying in knowing that when you kill someone you cost them a bit of cash. |

A. DUST is complete, it is in full release. B. If you want to debate that DUST is always under construction because it is any MMO then I submit WoW, FFXI, GUILD WARS 2, PSU, Star Wars The old republic. These games are done and are in updates, MMOs dun rite.

Will be great when they release content that is part of the USP of the eve universe instead of pandering to a mainstream fps crowd that live in a world of homogeneity and a monoclimate of copycat titles.

I am hopeful and have complained about this game, it's hard not to, If any reason just for the fact that no matter how much we can dream, try to collaborate, or deal with the problems what we have is so not what it is said to be.
Firstly I know this whole game is in essence a WIP, but sometimes.... sometimes it's too much. Some say it's a MMO/FPS/ hybrid whatever.... What we actually have is not that. I remember what drew me to this game upon first reading about it's conception was the idea of a new elaborate shooter with deep levels of gameplay. Also to go with that one would think of a polished game made by the visionaries who decided to make such a project.
Well, we have the visionaries, we have the game, but it's not a hybrid whatchamacallit, it's not polished, and it's not really bringing anything new to shooters at the moment.
My hope and belief is that it will, but damn I am starting to see the downsides of being a part of a player research team for a WIP title.
I think back to my first perceptions of this game's advertiesments, and I suppose back then I would have figured they would have had this stuff actually ready for delivery when the game was released. Not gather everyone together to work on concepts and projects that we the players will not see for a long time. |

The game would have been complete by now had it not for us Eve Online players who protested back in 2011 during the Jita Riots. I take full blame for that. But at the same time we had a legit reason to do so. |

In sorry I don't mean to pick on you. All those games hAbe been around a for q while now. Also WoW is an horrificly bad example to use . on launch it was a bug ridden mess just noone carried back then as MMOs where shiny a new.
People who say beta was better are trolling or deluded. Beta was horrific at times. Op swarms blow ps3, no corpse, no faction warfare. The assault rifle. Sp swarms where the only guns.
Only one map
The Only thing that we need back from those days skirmish 1.0 and who ever decided to get rid of it for their own ego to promote version 2 needs a telling. I don't think even when we had the new game for the first time we liked it
:-( beta was awful |

Believe it or not dust has been around for at least 5 or more years (early game footage looked more interesting than now).
We had 12 months of closed beta when I think things never actually improved that much certain things got worse
Dust should be in a far better state than it is now, when will it improve 5,6,7, years down the road that will already make the game 10 or more years old, then how much better will other fps's be in that time frame?
Also I'd disagree and say that giving up on the game now will save you a lot of time and you could use some of that time and play a fps that actually works and dosn't throw frustration at you by the sack full

I'm here for the long haul, I love the game and the fact that they will constantly improve, and add to the game (for free)...
You gotta remember that most people on the forums are here to express their disdain for the game and not much more, that's why there's not much positive stuff here. |
