- How does district conquering mechanism work in relation to EVE players? Do EVE players contract Dust mercs to attack a district on a planet or do Dust corps do it independently?
- What does FW mean?
- How do most EVE players earn their ISK? I've heard about mining raw materials from moons, is that it?
- Is the revenue source different for the large EVE corps?
1. Corporations are global, spanning EvE and Dust. A corporation that owns a district (through fighting for it in Dust, through Planetary Conquest, or PC) gets bonuses in EvE side to Player-Owned Starbases, or POSes More about the bonuses can be found here: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/team-true-grit-brings-some-changes-this-may/ In either case, this isn't something that can be done solo or at an early "life". Yes, there are many solo players owning POSes in EvE, but those are experienced players.
Who hires whom is entirely upto players. Some do it for fun, others do it for profit, and some for both.
2. FW = Factional Warfare http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Factional_Warfare Think of it as NPC (faction) endorsed PvP, although there is quite a bit of PvE content
3. There are thousands of ways to make money in EvE. Mining is very entry level, boring, and rather slow way of doing it. Mining moons is a different subject, and requires owning POSes (and like we've covered, this is something that usually belongs to corporations, not individuals).
There are other in-game ways of making money; missions, exploration, bounty hunting, ratting (killing npc pirates), trading, manufacturing, researching. And then there are player-created ways of making money, ranging from scams, to organized lotteries, to even IPOs and investments capital ventures.
Dust has nothing compared to EvE when it comes to economy.
4. Yes, corporations usually have more capital and power that can be leveraged in making more ISK. It's like comparing and entrepreneur or a small business to a large corporation in real-life. Sure, you can setup a small business, maybe even open a small convenience store, and maybe even sell a few handmade creations there. But that is nothing compared to building multiple factories in multiple countries and building cars by the tens of thousands.
Corporations (or rather mostly Alliances of corporation) fight for, protect and control rich regions of space, where other personal activities, such as mining, ratting and exploration are way better than what you would find as a solo players in Empire |
