But dont you see, being able to go prone would instantly make this a COD clone and the fanboys cant have anything remotely like that series here |

Redline snipers don't need anymore help by being able to 'go prone.'
Also, and bear with me here for a minute, going prone means the only part of you sticking out is your head. Is that really the thing you want me to shoot at?
I can always use more headshot kills I suppose. |

I actually sock that we still using weapons in Dust 514...if the EvE fans had their way, we will be using only LAV's, Dropships, and Tanks by now. |

I'm an EVE player and I prefer playing infantry over vehicles so your argument is invalid. |

No if the EvE fans had their way we wouldnt even be fighting, it would just tally up each teams SP totals and whoever had the higher number would win the battle |

We getting there... Just look at the Planetary Conquest. Is more fighting and killing outside the game, than it is in the actual battles. |

Prone or not is a design choice, not a technological one. I personally prefer no-prone because letting people go prone slows down the fighting and turns everyone into lamer grassy bush campers, soon everyone's crawling around the whole map prone with their balls in their purses. No one wants to cap the null cannon because they might have to go un-prone and risk getting shot, etc etc etc. |

Because it's been confirmed that cloaking will be an equipment item. Where are your equipment slots, Mr Heavy?
Also, as of the entire history of gaming so far, there are two possibilities when a game has a prone function.
1. Exploitable - dolphin diving and dropshots being the obvious examples. 2. Slows the pace of the game.
Obviously, the first option is just resoundingly a bad idea. The second would be terrible for DUST, and there are other games in which it doesn't work - which is why those games rarely include the option - but it isn't a terrible thing in every game that exists. I'm not saying I'm resoundingly against the concept of prone, but I'm against the implementation of prone in DUST using any method that's been used in any videogame ever.
Do you have some magical non-pace-breaking system you've developed that doesn't open the game to exploits? Because if you do, I'd love to hear what it is. |

You have forgotten what MAG taught us about going prone, when you can walk thru an enemy character model while being BLOCKED from moving by a Bluedot, because of the say the 6 stupid snipers hanging out on staircases (To make this Dust based.... why do you want to go prone? Is it for in the MCC to snipe, now that the mountainsides and all the places of height that can't be reached have all been identified). Which was quickly followed by why melee attacks from a prone position were able to OHK the standing player but the non-prone players stabbing downward into the head or back of the prone player resulted in less damage. |

Why is having prone a requirement? Some of the funnest games I ever played were proneless. Counter Strike 1.6 - AKA the FPS that was used for years upon years in competitive play, and is one of the most thrilling and exciting games. (Well, was, unfortunately after more than 10 years it finally died.) Battlefield Bad Company 2 - I still think its 10 times better than BF3, sure it isn't as realistic but was far more fun. Borderlands 1 and 2 - Awesome games, just play them Half Life - Need I say more?
And these are just the games I found much more fun than the average. There are many more games that are good but are without prone. Example being Killzone, and the halo series in general. And many more. |

There are certain things that can't be considered a game's franchise exclusive features. Thinking that adding a abily so generic such as go prone does not make this game equal to a game with the same feature is just foolish. same thing applies to the abillity to cook grenades.
I'll like to see this feature implemented in Dust 514 but well implemented the idea of a heavy going prone is ridiculous, yes, so make so the heavy's can't go prone or if you must apply this to all suits you just don't let heavy suits operate heavy weapons when in prone the can still using their sidearm and throw grenades. |

It "might" be interesting to give scouts only the ability to go prone, would certainly give them something unique. Probably too much programming just for one class though. |
