Thread was stolen?
However directed to original question of conspiracy theories about the DDoS attack? Share all of those ideas and suggestions |

It was the combined efforts of microsoft and all AAA fps developers! It took billions of pesos and lots of hard work to try and take down the future of gaming. |

CCP is owned partially by a Russian syndicate.
Somewhere along the line that syndicate got sideways with Putin's cronies so they went after their profit centers.
That or the same company that gave us evaporating bullets and resurrected the bunny hop evasion tactic in what they want to call a "AAA" shooter got their servers taken out by a few script kiddies.
I am thinking the latter is more likely. |

Forum is odd and never seems to keep the original posters in charge of their own thread. However I like to think I've done a service for us all by keeping this thread on track.
My own conspiracy theory was (and this is what one of my corp mates said) was that perhaps alliances and corps found ways to simul que friendly Templar charcacters, team kill them, and gain ridiculous amounts of ISK from exploits and general cheating of rules.
Others suggest PC corps exploiting glitches to lock down attack timers and so forth caused it and DDoS was a huge cover for CCP fixing this stuff though both of these seem highly unlikely since EVE went down as well...
Angry ex players looking to ruin the game for everyone, dying FPS and MMORPG game franchises cyber attacking other games and groups, etc

I was thinking EA was getting nervous and had all the xboxes fan boys stage an attack. That or all the hamsters were mad and hit the bat phone so they could get a good nights sleep. |

Yes yes I did. But to be fair I kept it focued didn't I?
My main theory is that while experimenting with all of their Jovian technology ( wormhole coffee brewing technologies) the Reykjavik Gate closed trapping CCP inside New Eden forcing them to communicate the only way they knew how....Twitter!
Using Twitter they established a new like here and continued to host us all on EVE and DUST.
DDoS was simply CCP FoxFour, Wolfman, and Frame using their Jovian coffee machines and risqu+¬ holoreels a little too much. |

CCP did it themselves to have two effects:
1. Put the Dust Bunnies into withdrawal, fearful of any development that would repeat the loss. 2. Gin up the perception that their largest problems are from without, not within. |
