There are a couple of reasons why I didn't choose to be a Templar. Though it may seem odd to you, one of the major reasons is role-playing. I chose to be a Gallente because I love everything about them. Their culture and history, their bird symbolism (the bird names for the ships and their love of freedom and liberty,) and their armor designs. I used to be an EVE Online player as a Gallente and I loved their elegant ship designs. So then why would I want to start over as an arrogant, high elf counterpart of the Amarr? So I can have their wretched gold and red armor to walk around high and mighty, making everyone jealous and angry just for having it? So that I can have a large amount of SP and WP for a quick fix, when I can do all that in a few weeks with my original character? So that I can have my name become Templar? So that...no. Just no Amarr for me.
Don't get me wrong, it is nice having all of those if you're an Amarr lover. But I am sure for some of us, we would like to see more events where we can participate in something that we can pride in rather than defecting to the Empire.

It's disappointing for me since I love the Amarr enough to abandon a 7m SP toon in favour of making a new one. Whats the difference you may ask..... simple the only difference is that this new toon has the Amarr assault avatar..... yup that's it.

Ouch. I'm sorry, man. It can be painstaking to start over gathering that much SP on a new one. |

I'm sorry...but which Gallente ships are named for birds again?
I fly Gallente right now (drone boats mostly) and cant think of any...
If anything, I'm getting a "Greek" feeling out of the names (Helios, Erebus, Eos, Hyperion...) |

It really is. I also came in doing this at a bad time trying to run up and armour tanker when the Fused Grenades came back into fashion. |

"When we first saw the flock, we were surrounded, caught in a spectacle of stimuli. Brilliant colors, dancing lights, beautiful cacophonies, wafting ambrosia. Those birds surrounded us, each one a different shape, an altered species, a new wonder. I tried to follow a single bird, but my efforts were futile: Transformation is natural to their existence. Imagine it: an undulating mass, a changing mob, all those beasts partaking in wonderful transmogrification.
These were our augurs, our deliverers, our saviors. Standing amidst the flock, we should have feared their glory; instead, we drew hope. This moment is the first time I understood what it meant to be Caldari: Divinity in the flock, delivery in flux, one being, many changes.
- Janto Sitarbe, The Legendary Flock
Caldari Strategic Cruiser Skill Bonus: 5% Reduction in the amount of heat damage absorbed by modules per level."
Proteus Description:
"Freedom is liquid, supple, mellifluous. It surrounds us, engulfs our bodies, drowns our fear. We plumb freedomGÇÖs depths and consume the nourishment within. From these waters, we are born; when we die, we shall return to those waters.
Out there, among the stars, are the waters, freedom incarnate. That dark, endless void is our destiny, our path, our goal. We must not fear it, nor should we control it. Rather, we should embrace it, trust it, love it. Its ever-changing face, its protean existence, is our very essence. We are those stars, the void, the awesome waters of space: ancient, forever, free.
- Jinsente Parmen, The Gallente in New Eden
Gallente Strategic Cruiser Skill Bonus: 5% Reduction in the amount of heat damage absorbed by modules per level."
EDIT: Wasn't the Leviathan a sea creature, often depicted as a giant whale or sea serpent? And chimera are part snake, lion and goat... |

I think the Caldari naming theme is about flight. Leviathans have been depicted as many things throughout the ages. Whales tend to be the main incarnation of them but there are myths out there about so called "sky whales" being leviathans etc.
Wyverns are simply dragon like creatures oft depicted more serpentine than say other draconic images. Chimera's are exactly that which you described. |

things with wings, maybe leviathan and chimeras are questionable, but wyverns are most often depicted as flight capable in any portrayal ive ever seen. should we count the gryphon as a non-bird entity as well? demon bird tengus?
point being, gallente are not the birds |

Griffon are half-eagle, half-lion. So yeah...count as a bird in my book lol.
Wyverns, as far as I've seen/heard, are like a degenerate dragon...poisonous barbed tail, "wild" (rough, ragged) look, no forelegs...not intelligent at all.
Some Chimera are dragon/lion/goat creatures, though even the snake versions still have wings (mostly anyway)
And I don't think I've ever heard Leviathan as a giant flying creature...or maybe I have as the flying whale...IDK...but it always had some connection to the sea. Its Jewish in origin, think from the book of that guy who got eaten by a whale (cannot remember his name).
Before EVE, I never really heard of tengu, and a quick Google says they're Japanese... |

Can't say I like Caldari design at all, though the Manicore looks OK (the Zerg Drone Nemesis is the best looking Stealth Bomber IMO). Amarr are growing on me; but I still don't see many where I am. Gallente are best by me for looks. |

ive always had a half chub for gall boats, but just because i <3 blaster boats, blaster mega is DIRTY if you can put it to use... blaster astarte ends up being much better effective dps though when running with others.
but as for looks, i am a fan of the nightmare and the rest of the sansha line of ships(phantasm and curor?), they look like theyre just supposed to ram the enemy ships. "damn the torpedoes, ramming speed!"
*EDIT* Sansha ships = Nightmare-BS, Phantasm-Cruiser, Sucubus-Frigate
Cruor was the blood raider frigate, and i apologize for my incorrect recollection. |

I would have loved to do this Templar event seeing as one of the Imperfects was offering up a Succubus to someone who proves they were in it and did all the cool stuff. |

i got a nightmare that i dont use sitting out in TEST space currently, cant access my accounts or even get to it since my accounts were removed from TEST...
but yes, nightmares are pretty potent, being that they can get away being shield tanked and laser fit, they end up with some excellent damage, and the open highslots made them great in pairs, dual transfer nightmares make pretty quick work of just about everything, though i feel paladins do it better... specially when facing Blood Raiders that i was used to in Delve and Period Basis, the em/therm tank of armor just works better. |

meh... i wouldnt bother PVP in a nightmare, can get similar DPS for a fraction of the cost outta a apoc or geddon.
and if your looking PVP, idk if theyve released the BC changes yet, but im a big fan of the cane, i know its losing a utility high, not sure what other changes were happening, but it was pretty potent.
you got 'whelp' cane, AC fit, neut in the high, a light shield tank+mwd, and damage mods in the lows, high damage, moderate tank, requires tackle support though you got armor cane, AC fit, mwd/ab + dual web + point/strong point, great for soloing war targets you got insta cane, Arty fit, Scan Res scripted Sensor Boosters with gyros and tracking enhancers in the lows, great for anti-frig support in gate/station camps
wish i could give the full fits but i havent had access to EVE for about 3-4 months now |

Minmatar Battlecruiser, Hurricane, was one of the most OP BCs before they took the nerf bat to it... if you knew the opponent you were facing, you could refit a cane to beat it 9/10 times. whelp cane's dual neut beat active tanks, armor cane beat most passive tanks in a brawl, insta canes werent really a 1v1 fit, but do dirty things to frigs if you got the campers advantage. i dont think i managed to ever kill a hurricane with anything other than another hurricane in 1v1 BC fights, but im also terrible at the game, harbinger, prophecy, brutix fails, never tried myrm or cyclone, and refused to fly drake or ferox at the time, but dont think either of the last two would have stood much of a chance
amarr boats arent the greatest in PVP though in my opinion, the sharp falloff of lasers, generally low mobility of armor, left them feeling greatly underpowered compared to other battle cruisers and below. the bhaalgorn(blood raider battleship) and the new armageddon bonuses(cheaper bhaalgorn), as well as the curse(recon) were great support when facing a larger opponent, but capital escalations in low/null generally leave them at a disadvantage... they truly shined in WH pvp when invading someone elses home turf(they usually have a capital fleet locally produced) since no other caps can show up to ruin the party. |
