I'm sorry...but which Gallente ships are named for birds again? I fly Gallente right now (drone boats mostly) and cant think of any... If anything, I'm getting a "Greek" feeling out of the names (Helios, Erebus, Eos, Hyperion, Myrmidon, and so on and so forth...) caldari are the bird names... raven, rokh, leviathan, wyvern, chimera, phoenix, rook, falcon, so on and so forth, and those are onlyt he ones i had off top my head, feel free to add to the rest of the caldari bird names Tengu Description:
"When we first saw the flock, we were surrounded, caught in a spectacle of stimuli. Brilliant colors, dancing lights, beautiful cacophonies, wafting ambrosia. Those birds surrounded us, each one a different shape, an altered species, a new wonder. I tried to follow a single bird, but my efforts were futile: Transformation is natural to their existence. Imagine it: an undulating mass, a changing mob, all those beasts partaking in wonderful transmogrification.
These were our augurs, our deliverers, our saviors. Standing amidst the flock, we should have feared their glory; instead, we drew hope. This moment is the first time I understood what it meant to be Caldari: Divinity in the flock, delivery in flux, one being, many changes.

Proteus Description:
"Freedom is liquid, supple, mellifluous. It surrounds us, engulfs our bodies, drowns our fear. We plumb freedomGÇÖs depths and consume the nourishment within. From these waters, we are born; when we die, we shall return to those waters.
Out there, among the stars, are the waters, freedom incarnate. That dark, endless void is our destiny, our path, our goal. We must not fear it, nor should we control it. Rather, we should embrace it, trust it, love it. Its ever-changing face, its protean existence, is our very essence. We are those stars, the void, the awesome waters of space: ancient, forever, free.

EDIT: Wasn't the Leviathan a sea creature, often depicted as a giant whale or sea serpent? And chimera are part snake, lion and goat... |

Griffon are half-eagle, half-lion. So yeah...count as a bird in my book lol.
Wyverns, as far as I've seen/heard, are like a degenerate dragon...poisonous barbed tail, "wild" (rough, ragged) look, no forelegs...not intelligent at all.
Some Chimera are dragon/lion/goat creatures, though even the snake versions still have wings (mostly anyway)
And I don't think I've ever heard Leviathan as a giant flying creature...or maybe I have as the flying whale...IDK...but it always had some connection to the sea. Its Jewish in origin, think from the book of that guy who got eaten by a whale (cannot remember his name).
Before EVE, I never really heard of tengu, and a quick Google says they're Japanese... |

point being, gallente are not the birds Yeah saw this thread, flew past a Myrmidon and thought to myself.....that sure a **** isn't a bird. myrmidons used to be pretty vicious too, never know what your facing when goin against one 1v1... more diverse than even the cane imo but then again, very few cald ships look like birds... reference - Damnation/Absolution/Prophceccy Im more for the Amarri ships because most of them do look like eagles or birds....however the apocalypse has to be the coolest looking ship ever And here's me, loving the look of my upside-down sailboat...
Can't say I like Caldari design at all, though the Manicore looks OK (the Zerg Drone Nemesis is the best looking Stealth Bomber IMO). Amarr are growing on me; but I still don't see many where I am. Gallente are best by me for looks. |
