I had the flu, so i spent 5 days wrapped up gaming on dust514, I had played very briefly before xmas but it didn't hold my interest. So I had returned to the game and initially I enjoyed playing, I was holding my own and getting to grips with the intricacies of dust514...
then wham, I've gone from Battle Academy to regular modes and it was a lesson in frustration and being footstomped...I'm totally outclassed and I have not spent my skillpoints wisely so I am being wiped clean with little chance of defending myself.. I can get a few kills if I clean up other peoples gunfights but one on one with a regular player with time invested in this game and it is completely pointless...
I see people dropping ammo and uplinks and repairing. I figure it out and decide If I can't kill I'll try and gain SP by support play. So I respec my second character and read up and decide that Logistics is the path I'll take before I learned about Logistics on this site....I play with the character Cain deSade and I adapted my gameplay to support.
So I run with a Minmitar logistics suit and every now and then when I'm twenty to thirty feet off the lead guys I really enjoy the game...Dropping uplinks, ammo and carrying a repair tool and repairing player's armour and being the difference for them winning gunfights....I have found a very rewarding part of Dust514....
However, these games are rare...Either the team I am in is totally outclassed or is outclassing the other team...Game after game is so predictable....Why is the team balancing so poor? Why are teams full of newish players put in against clans? To keep the new players wouldn't it be better to balance the teams better? It is a lesson in futility playing against clans armed with better guns and dropsuits....It has tempted me to leave so often but I am trying to persevere.
Skill points take forever to gain, when I am being footstomped and emptying my whole gun magazine into someone and then they realize I'm shooting them, they turn and shoot me out in a split second and their shield is hardly affected that is frustrating...Then I have to consider the grind...to gain some sort of parity.
Then there are the times I'm up a cliff and I get run over for the tenth time...Or my particular favorite, being sniped constantly because I'm close and supporting the lead players...My shields and health are gone in one shot? I'm constantly trying to move to prevent being sniped yet it seems a body shot is enough?
I understand the desire to snipe but in a game like Dust514 it adds little in the sense that the sniper enjoys it but it is ruining my only positive experience so far...I couldn't retaliate because they are behind the red line.
The maps are massive, Dust does not have Mag like numbers in a match..I wish it did. 16 vs 16 and big maps and too many snipers? Not a good mix. Throw in very experienced players and experienced players in vehicles running me over when I am up a cliff..Really,lol...
Yet I keep perservering, because once in ten or so games it comes together.. There not too many snipers, jeeps and the teams are well balanced..Then every now and then someone fires a laser and it looks really good...The Heavies are slogging it out and the support is there and then it's a big gunfight.
I'm looking at clanning up and using my headphones...So I will hang in there a bit longer
CCP get it together please
