At the moment of me writing this, DUST 514 lacks any player based trading system, severely limiting player interaction other than talking to one another and fighting together, which whilst it's great, it's not enough.
Now, I'm not talking about an EVE to DUST or DUST to EVE based trading system, with the complete economic package, personally I don't care, your EVE playerbase can go do whatever they please, they currently have no input on my actions other than the fact they might be able to Orbital Strike me, big deal.
We need the ability to trade with one another, one of the major reasons CCP hasn't added a player based Market or allowed us to interact in this method with EVE is clear and obvious, I understand that and so do many others but we don't need that to trade with other DUST players, we just need the ability to select a players name, select Trade and wait for them to accept the Invitation, once it's done it should open up something similar to this:
It's a pretty basic setup that took me five minutes to do in MSPaint, the various boxes show exactly what is needed, but I'll talk you through it.
At the very top, you can see the following;
- Portrait - Your Avatar, so like it is in the forums currently
- Player Name - Pretty straight forward
- Corporation Name - Again, pretty straight forward
- Accept Deal - Click then when you're happy with the deal, you need to wait for the other player to accept
- Deal Accepted - This would be displayed if the other player had clicked Accept Deal, most like lit up in Green to be more obvious.
The box on the left now, has three boxes inside, Inventory, which is the title, ISK balance, which shows the amount of ISK you have and Inventory by Category, which displays every category of item you own, with its subcategories and so on, so you could have;
- Dropsuits - Click to open the next subcategory
- Weapons - Click to open the next subcategory
- Vehicles - Click to open the next subcategory
- Etc
The central box shows the title, Offer, as in what you offer, ISK offer, you can input a number here, once you confirm the amount you want to add, the other player will see it, by hitting an X you can delete the offer made. It will also display all the items you have offered after clicking it from the left.
The box on the right shows the title, Offer by other player, their ISK offer, as with above it will be displayed as 0 until they input a number, and the items they've selected from their inventory.
Once both parties have accepted, a second box should be displayed showing everything offered, including ISK and should given the option to Confirm or Cancel, if both players click Confirm, the deal is done and the trade window closes.
This, I feel, is very simple and should be the next thing our beloved Devs focus on, we don't need a player run market yet, nor are we crying out for EVE trading, but trading between players, where they can make their own prices without directly affecting the current market is a necessity.
Not convinced? Let me continue with the Pros.
- Ability to trade unwanted items for ISK and Cash between players
- Opening of player run shops, without anything other than this trade screen, and we still get a market
- Ability to act as Mercenaries, receiving ISK transfers from CEOs who hire you so that you can actually be paid for your services
- Ability to help other players out, borrow a friends tank and die? Run into a friendly vehicle or did you shoot them out of the sky during PC by accident? Pay them back with ease.

In the IRC I believe one of the DEVs said it was a UI problem and most of the workhorse code was complete.
EDIT: Or "nearly complete", can't remember. |

orly? That pleases me. I wonder what UI issues the devs have, doesn't matter though, they need to scrap it all and implement my amazing MSPaint design, it will fix everything. |

There is a pretty serious market system in EVE... we don't need anything that grandiose but I would like to be able to trade with anyone without having to know who they are in advance. |

Start with the basics, that will come when we have a market system, with traders competing without us knowing their names, right now we need a basic trade function to allow us to give/sell our items or take/buy from others, and the ability to transfer ISK between DUST players without impacting EVE, allowing us to hire ourselves out without needing a holding corp to hold and transfer the funds, a long drawn out process. |

I'd like a system that isn't just going to enable established players to trade with their friends. |

Is it a problem to have such a system at this moment in time? It means I "could" go off and sell my salvage to any player in my Local, I could sell myself to SoTa for a quick couple of ISK. |

Player-trading would be a pretty minor aspect at this stage.
- We can't make stock because there is no P.I resources attached from EVE yet - The stock we do have is insta-coded in whenever any body wants to purchase and all supplied from one god-market that runs on no input (resources manufactured in to stock) - We can't set prices, so competition outside of the god-market is irrelevant anyway
I would *love* Dust to get a physical market but with the work it would take to bridge all the connections it's a massive can of worms and I can't see CCP pulling away from balancing the FPS side just yet. |

Actually, it would be pretty good at this moment in time. I understand your views but I'm asking for a simple trading system that allows us to trade our resources that we own, the foundations so to speak. Resources and production will come eventually, but the salvage we have now will be with us until we have it unless we have a trading system. Why do we have to rely on a Market for prices? Sure, if a Gunnlogi costs 200k, nobody is going to sell for over 200k, but what if I open up a chat channel and call it "Jason's Vehicle Store", where I buy peoples gear cheap that infantry players wanted to quickly offload, and then my regulars would come along and be like "Jase, you got any new parts?" and I could say, sure, I've got 5 Gunnlogis for 500k.
The beauty of trading.
We need this ability to transfer ISK too, I see plenty of corps "hiring" people, but some people are being hired for ISK transfers in EVE, how does one hire themselves out if they're not in EVE Online? You join or create a holding corp, and have the funds sent to you from the CEO, something that is a nuisance if you're in a Corp, Leave yours, wait 24 hours, join another, get money, wait 24 hours, leave, join back to your Corp. And it looks dodgy as hell on your employment history. |

Sort of a Scrap Merchant, right? Yeah I suppose it would be interesting as a minor note, I just hope CCP has time for something like this relatively soon.

Wow, we should all bow down to the genius of posting an idea that has been around since the very beginning of the game, has been requested hundreds of times (in the Feedback section), has been discussed by the Devs themselves and will be added when it CCP is certain it is not going to break the economy.
I am just enthralled by such levels of genius.

Yes it's been "suggested before", but I would like to hear from someone as to how it would break the economy. I also drew a picture, show me who else has done such a thing for this idea. |

I don't want a player based market, I just want item trading, is that really such a hard concept to put into the game?
I'll trade you; x sniper rifles for x assault rifles, because I have no money right now. I'll trade you; x ISK for x LAV's. I'll trade you; one madrugar for x Swarm Launchers.
Doesn't affect the economy in any way.

No point in trading if there isn't anything unique I can offer. When Dust has crafting skills and things like that, or they fix the loot system and add PVE then trading should come, but at this current state it would just be a waste of development power. |

It's not our economy CCP is worried about it is the EVE economy when the merge both economies. |

So there is no harm to our economy (NOT EVE), meaning that trading should be another interaction that should be implemented soon.
Also, you might not have anything "unique" but that is no reason to not have a system nor does that make it a waste of time. We're talking about a basic feature that is in every MMO but this game, which is classed as a MMO, does not. You don't need unique items to trade, You have salvage, aurum gear and ISK to trade for other things. If someone is offering a weapon at half the price, you should be able to send a trade request and get it done. If you're looking for Mercs, you should be able to get them to fight you and then immediately trade ISK to them for the job. |
