These are my weapon of choice and haven't ventured to far from them in terms of usage
My question:
Why are certain variants of assault rifles set either to single shot, semi auto or full auto why cant that be the users preference?
Why cant the user decide if its worth putting a scope on or not? (btw scope=tunnle vision=bad in CQC)
Benefits would enable devs to focus more on the weapons base stats rather than worrying themselves with things like has a it got a scope or not or can it be used as a sniper rifle etc
start with the militia variant and make every assault rifle subsequently better than the first in some way shape or form adjust isk prices to reflect performance and hey presto you have now a nice ascending teir system that is easy for everyone to get to grips with and let the player Taylor there own combination of assault rifle+scope+fire speed
This could probably be said for other rifles too but i cant comment on those
i would like to here some peoples thoughts on this preferably some beta testers as to why this wasn't the case in the first place and as always a dev response is encouraged too

Rookie Training Grounds is the best place for a thread like this.
The variants are set to be auto, semi auto, etc because they're balanced like that. If you want a specific mode of firing, then you go with that variant.
Weapon customisation is soon (tm).
Essentially, the weapons are balanced to be like they are. If you could set a tactical AR to fire at 789.5 rpm automatically, it would be ludicrously overpowered, especially compared to the normal automatic AR. |

I am asking why they are balanced like that in the first place
and if weapon balancing is soon (tm) then my proposal would only make that easier to implement?

It seems as no one else is, if im honest with myself as much as i believe this is the way the weapon system should be CCP have spent to much time balancing these weapons to where they are now that they more than likely wont implement or consider this for a long time to come.
