Idea I had while pooping this morning:
Add a fitting slot to vehicle fittings for a dropsuit fitting. Now when I enter the field I can spawn in with one of my dropsuits, or with one of the vehicles that has a dropsuit fit built in. With ground vehicles the player arrives in the RDV and gains control of the vehicle once it has been dropped off. With air vehicles we can skip the RDV altogether and just have the player fall out of the sky.
We've all seen the trailers with HAVs shooting as soon as the RDV lands. It's awesome! Let's have that capability! |

Closest you can get to this is a portable CRU module in a vehicle. |

I'm talking about you, the pilot, spawning directly into your vehicle rather than spawning in a dropsuit and calling it in once you've hit the ground. Basically, cut out the middle man, remove the element of "blue dot grabs my HAV before I can and runs off with it", and in general the start of the game as a vehicle operator smoother. |

I like it... There would be no reason this can't happen. |

I agree that this would be pretty cool. Relegate the RDV deployment to being at the rear lines at all times, unless a MAG style game mode (where attackers continually progress all the way to the objective) is created, in which case it would be okay for it to drop you off at the nearest "checkpoint" you have captured.
Actually, that brings up the point of we really need that game mode from MAG in this game. I never played MAG because I only recently bought a PS3 but holy cow did I like what I saw of that game. |

Basically he wants to be able to bring it in without the risk of dying before it arrives or someone stealing it when it's dropped off; in other words, artificial protection from risks that should be there.
Never mind the technical issues with implementation, which are extensive. |

I have, and I've had it happen to me as well.
I dunno, I think it'd just be kinda cool to show up in a tank. |

I am interested in mitigating some of those risks (I'm not sure why they "should be there."), but since those are fairly uncommon, easy to avoid, and really only a problem in Ambush I'm mostly interested in reducing the turnaround time between when I spawn in and when I can actually start playing. |

I have, though more often it's their crappy AI getting them killed (people are really averse to AV in this build, or your scenario would be more common.)
As it stands, with only being able to call in six vehicles at a time per time, i see ALL of the risks helping to keep things flowing and make people think about whether to call it in or not; if the cap were lifted I don't think it would matter so much.
I could see some merit to this for the initial spawn on a PC match, since here there would be coordination, preparation, and an actual plan, but for the other game modes, and for subsequent spawns, I think we should stick with the current mechanics of having to call in replacements. |
