Looking in the variations tab for the logistics dropship shows two new ones that are oddly named.
Now, here's a brief overview. Gallente have ships named from Greek mythology as their staple. Caldari mix theirs up with Japanese mythology and bird names.
The Proteus makes sense, and the Eryx is a bit of a misnomer but I suppose it's fitting as both factions are closely related.
However.
Crotalus is a genus for a viper and the only real connection to the mythologies is that in the poem Great Eoiae the serpents were killed by Oenomaus. The poem, unless I'm mistaken, is of Greek origin. This is odd being as this is a Caldari drop ship.
Now, the real curve ball is the gallente drop ship called the Amarok, which is from Inuit mythology. To my knowledge, none of the races in eve hold ship names from that culture.
Perhaps it has something to do with their capabilities, or perhaps they're closet drop ships for the Minmatar and Amarr (which would be even more bizarre) but either way the names definitely are elusive at best. |

The Eryx actually comes from Archaeopteryx. They're all originally birds either from real ones or mythology. It fits with Gallente because it is their symbol and their love of freedom. |

Being as they're of French origin, I have no idea. |

Gallente and Caldari have a lot of overlapping in their cultures, their civilizations rose again in the same solar system.
Proteus already exist in Eve so that's a bit of an oddity though. |

Caldari dropships are all actually snakes.
Viper Myron - use ctrl+f, it's a genus that doesn't have a whole lot of info on it Python Eryx
While they all may have mythical stories related to them, at the root they're all snakes.

you forgot:
weather phenomenon for minmatar (hurricane typhoon tempest maelstrom tornado cyclone) caldari have both mythos and non-mythos animals. Its worth noting many are bird-related. amarr include torture-related words that are not strictly religious (tomentor, crucifier, punisher, coercer, executioner, arbitrator) although these have a distinctly archaic, gothic feel. Spanish inquisition stuff. Gallente - yup |

Actually - almost all Minmatar ships have to do with weapons and weather events, yes, but there's a great deal of them that have to do with Norse Mythology. In particular, the less 'nice' parts of norse mythology such as Ragnarok which was basically the end of the world. |
