So, started thinking about different game modes I've liked in previous games and thought about this one from an RTS stand-point. Wanted to see what the rest of the community thought.
Keep in mind that this would wind up being quite a long game in some cases but would ultimately be entertaining, imo.
Skirmish arch-type which has the standard rule-set. Objectives are taken and two teams fight over who's MCC goes down first.
However, you get the added incentive of having to completely wipe-out their clones as well in order to achieve victory. Obviously a victory can still be achieved by the standard rule of clone depletion. In the event that the MCC is destroyed, the red-line is removed to prevent from players 'hiding out' in their base.
This would allow for the team who has subsequently lost their MCC to still potentially win by reducing the other team's clone count to zero despite having normally lost the match by standard Skirmish rules.
Post your thoughts - I'm actually curious to see where this goes. |

Your MCC is the only way the clones can re-spawn. You lose the MCC and you can't re-spawn in which you lose. |

I remember something similar being proposed before...
Wouldn't this basically mean that the MCC's are meaningless? Wouldn't be any need to capture objectives if MCC destruction doesn't translate to a victory. If the incentive is to simply remove their red line so you can farm them, you're better off doing an Ambush.
When I think "Annihilation" I'd rather we go for matches like "Rush" from BF3.
I'd open up a little more of the 5x5km. Start off in one area with 2 objectives. (Let's say the objectives are Skyfire cannons instead of Null cannons.) Attacker team must capture an objective, and hold it long enough for it to be destroyed. Defender team must simply defend the objective, and recapture it to prevent it from being destroyed.
If both objectives are destroyed the map red zone expands, and Defender team falls back to another part of the map for a final round on the last 3 objectives.
Match over conditions: - Clone out (150 clones each) - All objectives destroyed - Timer (20 minute game)
EDIT: Or this game mode can be modified, so that the objectives can only be destroyed via an orbital strike after they are captured. This will force the attacker team to squad up, and really use some team-work.
This could also be good for when Skyfire cannons are actually introduced into Dust. Until the mercs win over an attack on the district with Skyfire cannons. OB support from EVE is impossible. So striking a district with this kind of game mode would make some sense. A different game mode to match whatever type of district you are attacking. |
