Well to start off, what race of assault suit you planning on using billy. Once that is decided, look at the bonus of that racial suit, and test out some militia mods, see what gives you better survivability for you personally.
As for what mods you should try out, try armor plates and armor repair for low powered modules, for high powered try out shield extenders, shield rechargers and light weapon damage modifier.
The best way to go as of now, might not be the best way to go in the future, so it's just better to set yourself up for personal preference, rather than the flavour of the month. Min and max in what you do well at, be it making good use of tanking damage with your shield (Caldari Assault as i've heard are good at this) , or relying on armor to save you from those last few shots only to have it quickly repaired by armor repair modules (Gallente are good at this from their higher armor HP), or maximizing on your weapons fire power.
For equipment, try making use of drop uplinks or nanohives as an assault.
I hope this helps.
And if you find anything that suits your need, for your playstyle, it'll only serve to help you. |

If you are caldari assault the shield mods on high slots and shield regulator on low slots. Amarr assault damage mods on high armor extenders and one armor repair on low. I don't know how to fit gal, and Mimi suits. Equipment wise here some fits, av nades proxy mines, skirmish drop uplinks, and remote explosives and grenade of choice, ambush nano hive, scanner, and grenade of choice. These fits should help. |

Someone said the Caldari should use Low Slots for Shield Regulators. Don't do that. Try and get an Armor Repairer and/or some Armor Plates. The thing with the Caldari, is that as soon as they run out of shield, you can pretty much suicide right there, because of how low your armor is. The speed decrease is worth it, I think. Also, an Armor Repair is pretty much a rule of thumb for every suit.
However, the Gallente do not need Armor Repairers, as the Gallente believe that there is no greater thing than the human life (They're the YOLO freaks...), and will find any way to preserve it. In EVE, the Gallente love to use Drones, instead of an actual person. In DUST, they represent this, by having built-in Armor Repair, costing not a single mod slot. Us Gallentians get lots o' love from CCP. :D |
