When does this ability kick in, a lot of SP was used on this weapon for its ability to fire these seeking short range missiles. |

It kicks in when they decide to implement the seeking variant and you start using it. I wouldn't hold my breath, as it will probably be a pain in the butt to keep from being OP or useless, and they already have their hands full.
Meanwhile, you can take solace in the fact that you have a lot of SP invested in the most fun gun in the game. (In my opinion, obviously.) I wrangled a quintuple kill out of it the other day. |

I still haven't decided on a sidearm post-respec... I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop on all the rebalancing. |

The flaylock is nothing more then a frag weapon without the ability to lock on to a short range hostile say for instance a heavy machine gun. |

Heavies are the easiest buggers to score direct hits on; a seeking version would be more useful against strafing scouts or for blind-firing around corners.
Honestly, considering the range, speed, and splash damage, I have difficulty imagining the seeker being much more effective than simply aiming and leading your shots when necessary. Also, considering how stupid Swarm Missiles are, the seekers are just going to hit the front of your target's cover for zero damage when you can easily arc the regular kind over to tag the wall/ground behind them for respectable splash damage.
There are a lot of people jumping around firing the Core Flaylock at their feet for easy kills against low eHP opponents, but they are doing it very wrong. It's far more than a weak Fused Locus Grenade with extra ammo. You can bombard people from an overwatch position, force people out of cover, and break up tight red blobs. |
