The gamers I know work or go to school. I'm not talkin my PSN buddies, but friends, coworkers people I bulshit with when i donate plasma. When i bring up something from the forums it is of no interest usually. They just dont have the time or dont care. Almost all of the gamers i know fall into this category even my bpsn buddies.
So when they jump on a game and it is broken they jump to another. I didnt get a chance to talk to my little brother and tell him about CCP giving him extra money. I suspect if he jumps on Dust and sees a negative balance his response will be:" Fuckthis game". i just know him too well. this is just one example.
people should not be punished for other peoples mistakes. CCP could have put in patchnotes. they could have sent an ingame mail.

CCP sent in-game notification of it on monday, similar to downtime notification. Although when in battle, people just tend to click it reflexively away ASAP. I know I did and after I just wondered what it said... |

there was many warnings the last to days ingame. they pop up right in the center of your screen. so ccp is not the babysitter for all the kids. play only the gear you can pay out. |

this may be the last straw for some You mean like the forum post they put out? https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=83185&find=unread
And to address your point more directly:
Dale Templar wrote:Allah's Snackbar wrote:It's not a wise strategy for CCP to employ when you are struggling for credibility.
Punishing people for a mistake you make? If you put your Debit Card into an ATM one day. and there was a million quid sitting there, would you try take it out? No, you would get done for fraud, and they'd take it back immediately. Same thing, this **** happens, even in real life, happened to me TWICE irl, but I've been smart enough not to go LOL THE MONEYS GIMME. Basically, you don't have a point. Try bringing that point you think you have up while being prosecuted for fraud if you did that IRL. See how far that gets you.
The backend database has been on the fritz for about a week now, and they're working like crazy to fix it. If you think that a database error giving some players millions or even hundreds of millions of ISK should just be written off as "oh well" I just don't know what to tell you. |

To all those who relish in the fact that people now go negative ISK and tell them to HTFU or something similar... try being a realist! The fact of the matter is that people WILL quit this game if they are in the right mindset.
Laugh all you want, it'll mean lower player numbers tho. I'm hoping it will be just marginally lower tho. |

CCP made a huge mistake and theyr fix was INGAME POP UP??? Everyone closed the popup because in game they dont have time to read.
Only forum reader (like me) was informed correctly.
Why didnt they armed those popups ingame when the player is out of game and he/she just hanging out in clone room?
Summary: they did a huge mistake and they faild inform the players correctly. |

that seems to be a general theme for everything they do. some of us are real nerds and will deal with it. every new thing they do i lose people who i love playing with. i'm just pointing out a pattern. |

Say what you want about casual gamers, but if bullshit happens, they're the first to leave.
And I dont think this game can handle any more drops in players. |

most ppl are casual gamers. why? because we have this thing called a life we got things to do and we cant afford to sit playing games all the time.
Unless something drastic the game will continues to lose players and when all the new fps are released in the summer the player count will drop alot even more |

What? You don't need to farm ISK, the game throws it at your face all the time. I was in a match for less than a minute and did absolutely nothing and got 20,000ISK.
Sounds to me like people need to learn how to better manage their money. Spending everything as soon as you get it is a TERRIBLE way to go about things.

People aren't being punished. This is a correction. Also, it was their mistake for spending ISK that OBVIOUSLY wasn't earned.
Also, if you want your ISK back, petition CCP and they will give it back in exchange for everything you bought with the unearned ISK.
Also, if people are too stupid/uninterested to bother to read the login screen or come to the forums or to use logic, and they leave. Fine. I'm cool with that.
Nobody wants their local steakhouse to become McDonalds, just because more people will show up. |
