Seems like a fairly sharp and reasonable reviewer - those are all too rare. And is definitely interested in DUST in the long-term. |

TL;DR
"In Short: A very poor first person shooter buoyed up by the promise of things to come, and an impressively ambitious attempt at a cross-format connected universe."

Interesting ... yet.. Reflected in other reviews facts ;
"Like EVE Online itself Dust 514 is a fearlessly ambitious game that weGÇÖre shocked to find works on any technical level. The simple problem is though that itGÇÖs just not a very good shooter, and the compromises that connecting to the parent game bring are just not worth the cost."
"If you become a member of a mercenary group operated by one of EVE OnlineGÇÖs corporations you can involve yourself in more meaningful conflicts that can change control of the planet, but such abstract considerations mean little when youGÇÖre still left playing the same run-of-the-mill shooter."

Yeah, summed it up pretty accurately. Now I feel stupid for playing, though. |

I'm trying to parse the underlined portion:

What compromises is he talking about? The core fps mechanics are completely independent of the EVE connection, so it's not that.
Can anybody shed some light?

Hes talking about, trying to make Dust 514 play & feel like EvE online, so the two games can be connected in one single Universe. That comes at the cost of developing Dust 514 as a First Person Shooter, and is creating difficulties in the game development.
In other words...The connection is giving CCP a headache . |

Now to be fair, there never was a chance of it being developed separate of New Eden. All CCP has is the sandbox. It is enough, if the core game gets ever on a playable status. |

Funny how dust is living it's life on how good it will be and what will be added in the future , shame it just dosn't do a good enough job to make you want to hang on for another 2 or 3 years to play a decent game |

In spite of the reviewer's failings based on a short playtest he sees the bones of the thing clearly, makes no excuses for CCP, yet still communicates the potential of DUST and the probability CCP will pull it off.
Fairly written, i say. |

Why do i get the feeling the only "reasonable and sharp" reviewers in your mind will always be the ones interested in DUST in the long-term?
Also how can a "!!REVIEWER!!" review a game that does not exist and may never exist? Is he a pre-cog physic reviewer from the future? |

Fair enough.... honestly all CCP has to do is go to a game like COD 4, or BF3, play it and see how the controls feel. Once they realize how smooth and fluid the movements are on that game, they can translate it over to DUST. Then they just slightly lower the max turn speed of Heavies and you can call it "balanced" You can all say what you want about franchise shooters like that, but ONE thing they got right was how to make the game feel gooooood while playing it. I never got frustrated in Cod because of how slow my player aimed from left to right...... because I could just turn up the sensitivity. PFF I don't know why CCP is so dead set on clinging onto differn't rotation speeds...... |
