Just pointing something out that should be obvious to most...
People who are using this respec to spec into TAC AR simply because its op, are going to find themselves whining in the future.
One of the prioritized game updates will add in the Effective Ranges on all weapons, meaning no more sniping with the TAC AR.
Weapons won't do any damage outside of their ranges, which will greatly balance AR's in general.
AR's didn't get buffed in uprising. CCP just didn't implement effective range which is making AR's currently overpowered.
The balance is coming, enjoy it while you can.

Its actualy the other way around, right now guns cut out at a certain range like the bullets evaporate, in the future bullets will keep traveling until they hit or deal almost no damage anymore too far of there maximum range.
The Tac just has allot more range over the other AR's, thats what you are seeing right now. |

What they are doing is straight out nerfing the TAR, so you are right for the wrong reasons. Raising recoil, lowering damage and clip size, and possibly lowering fire rate. |

From what i understood on the dev post about effective range, when its implemented weapons will have an "optimal range" that will do full dmg as long as you are within said range. Going beyond that range will start to curtail your weapons dmg the further the range extends until no dmg is dealth, even if the bullets impact.
Currently, TAC ARs are able to do full dmg REGARDLESS of the distance to the target as long as the bullets hit.
A bit different then what you are suggesting. |

Yup. But, will it be 6 weeks or six months from now? TAR users and abusers will QQ for a respec when they do. CCP will cave. Then on to the next OP/UP debacle. Only devs know, and they've retreated from effective communication. |

It's not that the TAR has infinite range, it just has one of the best optimums, even better than the whole Tactical Rifle class of weapons (Scrambler Rifles). Once again you are right for the wrong reasons. |

Tac ARs just have ridiculous range that is pretty much only outranged by Sniper Rifles or Forge Guns. You have to pretty much be sniping at extreme range for a Tac AR to not be able to hit you in the current system.
When they implement the change, it will be able to shoot farther, albeit with damage drop-off. Another reason it will need a nerf, which it will get, because its range is only one issue with the weapon's current balance (or lack of it). |

The big "nerf" to TAR is going to be the buff to the SCR. They are increasing its range while lowering the CQ abilities of the TAR. Basically soon the SCR will be what everyone bitches about. But it will be even worse, because they wont be able to use the SCR well, but will still just claim its an auto-win button. |

Yea, my favorite was the TF2 pistol. People had scripts to fire all 20 bullets at almost the same time, so Valve implemented a capped fire rate and a program that scans for the script and breaks your game if it finds it. |

That was the point i was trying to get across, Its the fact theres no dmg dropoff that makes the TAR so deadly atm.
Thank you for clarifying/correcting my poorly stated opinion. |

Well.. you spec into "Assault Rifle " skills.. the TAC is only one of the available options. So.. you can't spec into the TAC as such..the TAC is a weapon, not a skill. |

Only clip size will be reduced, and hip fire spread will be increased. Everything else might come down the line if TAR is still deemed OP. |

Too bad those TAR skills don't affect my GEK-38 or Duvolle. Oh wait, I already switched back to those for my Logistics fit. The normal version is a bit more effective in CQC. I keep the TAR for my scout fit for ranged combat.
Proficiency in the assault rifle is never a bad thing even if the variants are tweaked. |

Others have already pointed this out, OP has a ton of mistakes.
1. There is no "Tac AR" skill to spec into. It's AR skills, which means it applies to all the other ARs too.
2. OP says damage is same at all distances for TAR. Also wrong. The TAR does less damage outside of it's optimal range.
3. OP thinks the future changes to weapon ranges/dmg will make the TAR useless. All it will do is allow SOME bullet damage to occur even beyond what the weapon's "MAX" damage is. Meaning, theoretically the TAR will be able to do a couple pts of dmg at like 200m out. (but so will the other ARs) |

+1. I do use the TAR's and had abused their power, but I do agree that this is the only AR you see. I agree with the changes, already went back to using my Duvolle AR or my GEK-38 AR. I find them better.
