What I mean by Hybrid HAV-ing is a balance between Armour HP and Shield HP, and is it a thing yet?

Pretty much this. When you try to go hybrid with the vehicles that are available now, it tends too end with an explosion and a good tanker/forge gunner/other AV laughing his or her ass off.

not really. you have just barely enough CPU/PG after maxing upgrades to fit one kind of tank.

the only ones that can pull it off are armor HAVs and the few that did try died under my HAV.

I ruin hybrid tanker's day with my plasma cannon, I hope that shows why you never put a plate on a gunloggi.

One or two extenders with no hardeners on an armor tank.

Dual tanking will never be a 'thing' so please stop waiting for it. The rule is that Amarr and Gallente have armor and Caldari and Minmatar have shield, with some exceptions.

I hear dual tanking is what all the pros in EVE are doing.

Not in Dust 514. Amarr seems to have a tankier base suit with dual tanking capabilities.

 In EVE, dual-tanking doesn't work.

In DUST, so far, dual-tanking only works on Dropsuits, not vehicles. Technically, you can dual-tank vehicles, it just doesn't provide as much benefit as investing further into your primary.

So for now, don't do it. But maybe when they bring out Amarr and/or Minmatar vehicles, there might be more options.
