So since we got the basic and role based variants of each frame type, why not do away with the tiers in each? why not have the bonuses applied directly to the suits in stead of the skills and make each different basic suit have a designed role. Then if you wan to get into the high end extremely specialized variants of those roles you have to skill into level five for that frame and then into the the variant.
I admit I'm just applying whats done in eve here but It really does make more sense then the current system. |

I'm sorry. I don't really understand. But you said something about 'giving the Basic suits a designated role'? The point of the Basic suits is for players to try it out, and make a general fitting. It's mostly well-balanced slots and whatnot, for encouraged experimental fittings.
The only problem I have with Basic suits is that it does't give the player an option to see what the Logistics is like, as all the Basic Medium suits have 1 slot only. Otherwise, it's fine as-is. :P |

agreed ghost. I like the way the basic suits are set up as well. being skilled into armor I run a basic proto heavy suit and when that gets too expensive I run the basic gallente assault suit. the basics I find do a nice job for being what they are... basic. they allow players to easily skill into the first one to see if they like it and if they don't they have only spent 20k or so sp. the more you skill into a suit the more slots you get. |

well thats the Idea you would have a basic suit that favors a logi, fit and one that favor an assault fit, one for sniping, one for av, one built tanky one built fast, just a whole bunch of roles, and then the assualt and the logi suits would be the really dedicated high end suits.
the point is to give new players a chance to check out the different roles each suit has on the battle field and then spend the SP to go into the role they really like, instead of spending points into an unbonused assault or scout or heavy suit that has no point past basic. |

Well, honestly. It doesn't require that much work. You want an assault fitting? Slap an AR on a Caldari Medium. There, classic Chromosome Assault fitting. Sniper? SR with a Basic Gallente Scout. Heavy? Basic Heavy suits. AV, Swarm Launcher on a Caldari suit.
You don't need to change the entire suit system to figure out what role you like. I wouldn't have these new feelings, as I'm from Chromosome, but even if I did, It wouldn't take me too long to realize that I like to be an Assault, or Demolitions role. |
