Have any of you ever heard of a war/battle in the history of the universe that there has not been a word said? me neither
If you play without a mic all you hear is gunfire which is kind of lame so im going to refer to BFBC2 who got their voices exactly right.
When throwing grenades, putting down med/ ammo packs and doing a lot of other thing your guy would say some thing which not only you could hear, stuff like "grenade out!" or "ive got ammo over here!" and if a grenade landed close to you "GRENAAAAADE!!". these thing made you feel like you were in a real battle.
So how does this relate to dust? it could be implemented in many ways
when you 'spot' a scout he could say "Scout detected", when using the active scanner " multiple hostiles detected" when you run out of ammo and are reloading he would shout "reloading, cover me!". the list goes on and on but also there wouldn't just be one thing for each action as it would be boring so for lets say when you've just killed a guy "enemy down!", "hostile eliminated" etc.
This also leads on to other things such as when you need ammo or repair from somebody I have to bunnyhop, melee and shoot a logi until he realises what I want (note this is when I don't use a mic, this is what BFBC2 got right- you didn't need a mic to work as a team) all you have to do when hovering over a logi who is equipped with what you want is press a button and you guy will shout "I need ammo over here!" the logi will hear this and put down a nano hive.
For effect the scout dropsuit will always sound like he is whispering like he is a spy. And when a person is killed they will shout/scream they will not just flop over and die. there will also be male and female voices and maybe even different accents for different races. also if you had to spam reload (fire 1 bullet then reload) he wouldn't shout reloading every time, only sometimes
this is only some stuff, any other thought or ideas? |

I agree BC2 got it right, but BF3 took it way too far. I think BF3 is actually harder to play with a mic because the ingame soldiers never shut the hell up. |

The only reason I'd be against CCP implementing audio for the mercs is because lore-wise, the voices of the mercs (and of course their memories/minds) are the only things that separate them from each other. That's my opinion on it. It's not really a big deal, though I'd rather CCP focus on other things first for sure. |

You know, even if you don't have a mic, you can still turn voice comms on and you'll be able to hear anyone else on the channel who does have a mic. Granted this can result in annoying noises/chatter but you can mute those people. This also means you'll be able to follow orders or hear someone warn you there's a dude just coming up behind you with a knife and you'll be far more valuable as a teammate.

Maybe it can be an option, if you do not have voice coms activated or on that channel then you automatically broadcast those sounds when you do stuff and if you have a mic then it doesn't play those sounds. |
