I started DUST new to such a deep system of play, having come from CoD and BF3 and even Halo. (Those games are bad and I should feel bad, I know)
Starting from the academy, after reading the half-assed tutorial that a company from Iceland made (Not bad for people who have to learn a language so far from their own.) learned more about SP and ISK and with this knowledge in mind smashed the Battle Academy competition with relative ease.
Then the trouble started, I began playing with ACTUAL pros, getting torn to shreds and made a fool of on the battlefield, and while my knowledge of FPS games allowed me to do better than, probably most of the new players I still encountered difficulties and situations where I couldn't win. In turn I did something I'm usually too proud to do.
I went and got help. I mean, come on, this game is pretty complicated, someone else MUST have asked for help, so I swallowed my idiotic pride and went to the forum website, whos address I'd seen on the opening screen of the game and asked for help on a great many topics, from the odd aiming, to fitting decisions.
I just wanted to say thank you to the people who didn't tell me to HTFU or "Welcome to New Eden" or "That's what you get for being in CRONOS" (That one was interesting) It's helpful people like you that keep newer players like me interested in such a complex, and sometimes rewarding gameplay experience such as DUST.

It's not rocket science. They farm in packs, but suck in 1vs1. Add to that, the value of Gear > skill and even the most talented fps player would have trouble, till they have a good squad with good gear. Look at it this way.. If half of the greats teams that played in mag, in socom came here. That leader board would be bouncing a lot.
DUST514 doesn't hold the cream of the crop of FPS. Not when most FPS won't touch this game with a 10 ft pole.
I'm just a little old scout, who forgets some times that I'm a scout. lol and end up dying a lot cause of it. But when I do stick to my role, I can put quite a few proto's away. But its on my terms. Tho when I goof, I'm always interested to see 4 blokes coming my way when I'm 1vs1 some one. (looking at you ZION) You guys calling for back up? I'm just a little old scout.

It's okay, the Super hardcore FPS guys don't need to play it. I enjoy it, as does my corp, and my friends, and that's really all that matters to me. |

I think you give me too little credit. I spent 6 months playing DC Universe Online, and that game wasn't even broken. It was shattered and desecrated.  |
