CCP,
On your official rules for this forum you reference the Interstellar Services Department (ISD) specifically the Community Communication Liaisons (CCL), as a part of this forums moderation and success in maintaining a healthy community.
Quote:11. Discussion of forum moderation is prohibited. The discussion of DUST 514 forum moderation actions generally leads to flaming, trolling and baiting of our ISD CCL moderators. As such, this type of discussion is strictly prohibited under the forum rules. If you have questions regarding the actions of a moderator, please file a petition under the Community & Forums Category.
I have asked several times, and several instances have arisen where there is a clear need for the ISD program to be instituted for the healthy maintenance of this forum space. Is there any word on when this will be looked and and added to the DUST 514 community or is it simply another Soon(TM)? There is a need for better moderation and better management of how some of the players are using these forums, and with the addition that your Human Resources department are looking for another Community Manager for DUST 514 it goes without saying CCP Frame, CCP Eterne, CCP Falcon and the rest of the CCP Community Management team need all the help they can get, so why not tap into the positive and helpful players within the community?
For those who are confused the ISD is the following collection of teams, specifically for the EVE Online community:
Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division. (ECAID) ECAID stands for "Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division". We are the Bug Hunters, those who volunteer behind the scenes to assist CCP in the attempt to ensure releases are bug free, exploits are quickly identified and excluded, and code testing for release patches. We are present mainly on the internal and external test servers. You will see us on Singularity, we're the ones with purple text, you'll also find us on the coldfront irc network, within #eve-chaos. Our department members are from all corners of the globe, and our work is under a voluntary basis, although run to the strictest of operating conditions.
Support, Training and Resources (STAR) Support, Training and Resources (STAR) is the branch of the ISD volunteer program that helps with player support. They specialize in helping players, new and old with any questions or problems they may have. One of their duties is to personally greet new players, giving them a good start in the game as well as welcoming them to the Eve universe. They also maintain a presence in the help channels providing moderation, support and answering questions where required.
Interstellar Correspondents (IC) The IC team are a group of players who dedicate their time and energy to ISD to bring a wealth of news to the universe of EVE, surrounding anything and everything to do with player-driven events. From fleet battles through racing leagues to alliance tournaments, we aim to bring a broad spectrum of news coverage straight to your screen. Our reporters find stories, research them, interview relevant parties and produce the player news that can be found in the Player News Center, on the login screen and in-game. In more general terms, it is ICGÇÖs goal to become the source of player-driven news within the universe of EVE and a news organization that stands out from that which exists in any other MMORPG, past, present and future.
Mercury(M) Mercury(M) works closely with CCPs content division to create new fiction and stories thus enriching the fictional background of the EVE universe. Mercury have worked on several key projects including the Region Descriptions (of which they wrote the majority), storylines introducing new patch content such as the black ops ships and the boosters, the Code Aria Inquiry, fiction news for the Alliance Tournament and various other storyline and descriptive works for CCP content/storyline. The ongoing work of Mercury concentrates mostly on articles in the faction sections of the player news center as well as in the faction specific militia news pages. The work in this team is varied, there are generally multiple projects running at any one time and the team members need a very good understanding of the fiction of EVE and a good writing ability to be able to join Mercury. Mercury is accepting applicants.
Yulai Archives & Records Repository Team (YARR) The YARR team are a group of volunteers who administrate the EVElopedia. It is our goal to support the community in making the EVElopedia an up to date, useful and easy to use resource. We do this by monitoring new content added to the EVElopedia, finding and reporting bugs to CCP and adding new official content such as Dev blogs and patch notes.
Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) The CCL team are a group of volunteers who monitor the official EVE Online forum. It is their goal to support the community by helping to maintain the forums as a healthy venue for discussion and enhancing communication between CCP and players. The CCL team can point out threads to the Community team who can then bring them to the attention of the relevant developers and teams. Simply put, the CCL can quickly bring issues to the attention of the Community team so they can get answers to the players as quickly as possible.
Players,
don't turn this into a "pick me coach" type of thing, that is not the purpose of this thread. |

Players,
Do not turn this into a "Pick me! I want to do that!" thread, that is not the goal. The purpose of this thread is to request that CCP expedite the process in creating or adding a DUST side program to the ISD Volunteer Program.
One possible solution is a handful. say 5 to start off, DUST players are added to each of the current ISD teams as a trial and they all report to the Vice Admirals of each ISD team for their specific task. That would not only promote EVE/DUST relations, but also allow the experienced ISD members to train DUST volunteers the process in which each team follows. |

Hi.
We had CCL looking into forum moderation for DUST a couple of months ago, but due to various complications they had to pull out to focus on their EVE duties. The vast majority of them are EVE players, so we felt that was the proper course of action to allow them to do this.
We are very interested in expanding the volunteer program to cover DUST, not only with CCL but also with STAR, Mercury, ECAID, and IC. There are a couple of roadblocks at the moment that I'm unfortunately unable to go into, but it's very very much something we want to bring over. We see tremendous value in it. |

No problem having players in this as long as ccp or other members have finale say on who gets in to prevent abuse. I would to see a live events team too :-) |

The CPM stated that the CCL is actually recruiting now, but there has been no announcement on this nor is there an application process for non-EVE players (as an EVE player I'm sure there is a solid reason for this).
Can you confirm that the CPM is accurate in that statement?
Additionally would you encourage those who play EVE regularly as well as DUST to apply to the ISD to help bridge the gap between the two platforms?

There is a vetting process for the ISD in EVE so the same sort of rules, regulations and requirements should be expected out of the ISD Volunteers in DUST to minimize harmful behavior. Even if someone gets in and starts causing trouble, there are most likely protocols in place to eject them immediately from that position. |

I would most certainly be interested in hearing more about our options to OLL and BNMT so that UHK and VLAD would be maximized, while minimizing the risk of HAHK and MAHK.

The ISD is a group of people who willingly want to do whatever tasks that specific team is responsible for. There seem to be level headed people who don't need to be on the forums all day, as thats why you have multiple people across multiple timezones to overlap and cover weaker areas.
ISD has a pretty solid set up in terms of how they structure their "shifts" so I would imagine the DUST-side ISD guys would follow that same model. |

The thing is, the ISD is currently primarily only EVE players. There should at least be a few of them who are also on DUST or are DUST players only. |
