That is a low priority sort of thing vs everything else having to be fixed. Chances are they will start with the faces first then work on full body. How and when is beyond me. |

(It'd probably take me a full day or two to make and EVE character if I decided to touch the character creator, and didn't just use whatever face it started on)
Chances are that the battlefield clones will remain generic but your in-station clones will be a custom paid service to have. |

However having a face would have to be something only in social places, as because this is a T for Teen rated game, to would have to be reevaluated to have a shooter game with dying faces. Doesn't make sense to have it in combat areas - just the Merc Quarters and the Warbarge... Maybe Clan Quarters if they ever implement such a thing... Yanno, all that Plasma Planet goodness totally works with no helmet.. At any rate, CPM should just try to convince the Dust 514 team to lower their workload and copy/paste a form of the Eve Online Chargen onto a browser based version which would show the avatar on the Dust 514 forums/in-game chat channel avatar. Would definitely alleviate a lot of workload on the Devs and give these guys a face to call their own without having to implement some massive in-game overhaul.
Unfortunately the Unity and Carbon engines don't work like that, Its more of a Copy, Chop up to a million peices, then paste into a new shape that is still similar to the previous iteration. Similarly the same cannot be said about Dust 514 being on UR3 engine and copy pasting it to UR4 engine. While the graphical assets can be retained the extremely heavy modifications done to the engine are likely UR3 mods only and new ones will have to be made on UR4 to maintain 'consistent' performance. |

They did a pretty good job importing the Ship Viewer into the website. Some of the ships on there were V3'd before Eve Online was.
They are also trying to port the character creator to a web interface as well. Luckily I can probably safely say that any work done to character creation is going to minimally impact dust 514's development. |

I am sorry but according to the last 20 pages on general discussion and technical bug forums and features and ideas... Avatar creation is probably rank LAST of all current issues. If there is a pecking order based on how loud people are screaming I know that if avatars get done next patch and nothing else got fixed, We are going to have a massive riot on our hands.
Now if we get the TAC balanced, I won't have a massive riot, sure some players will be upset we didn't get the prices lowered on the dropship but with the TAC lowered there is going to be some whines and more celebrations. |
