Because it's a drastically overpowered, all round best weapon, one hit kill (proto) anti-personnel, 2 hit kill dropship, easy to aim, massive range, better than a sniper rifle for sniping, noob tube.
Also the answer you probably were looking for is it's a bloody hip-fired hand cannon. There's no scope and you can't hold it out in-front of your face without toppling over because they crammed more damage into this gun than a large rail turret.

Physically, you could just zoom in with the optics on your drop suit.
I don't see how you think the forge gun is overpowered. I've never been killed twice by one in a single match, unlike every other weapon, including the flaylock pistol. I have also used the forge gun extensively last build and am working my way up in skills since uprising.

I've killed a fair number of guys with it from 100+ meters. It's really fun, and stupidly satisfying. But the gun is primarily anti-vehicle, not anti-infantry. For the most part, it doesn't NEED a zoom function. You can reliably hit vehicles at nearly any distance with it, and it's stupid powerful. |

Maybe not for the standard and assault, but I'd like to see it on the breach at least. With a 6 sec charge time, I'd like to know that my shot is going to hit its mark. |

If you're having trouble hitting a target at range, take a knee. A zoom would only help against infantry, which isn't it's purpose (but such a satisfying kill when using it to counter-snipe a sniper.) |
