I've been excited for Dust for a very long time. But I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with how release is. Obvious unbalance to many things, coupled with absurd glitches. Its the same old same old every battle, even back in beta it wasn't this bad.
These things however can be fixed. However, what I'm most disappointed about is the -missing- things which are already implemented.
Where are the Amarr tanks? The Minmatar tanks? Where are the Amarr, and Minmatar Light Vehicles? There's a whole cadre of missing faction weapons as well. Why were these left out? Is it due to Hull being absent? They decided to simplify it? I call BS personally.
Minmatar tanks could still hold true to their name as getting bonus to blasters, while being quicker and more agile, but lighter armored and shielded.
Amarr tanks could still hold true to being slower, heavier, with a small bonus to a Heavy Laser, while still being the Armor tanker like EVE.
Caldari is.. fine as it is, shield tanker, but with a slight bonus to Missiles.
Gallente, of course is a balance.
Those bonus's could be on higher tier tank chasis as well instead of the lower ones we have now.
What's up CCP?
I figured they'd at least keep true to the EVE lore of how factions are, but I digress, the one thing I'm most disappointed in is... The lack of planets...
Its really not that difficult either, in-fact, it would create different ways to having to fight. Imagine if you will..
Lava planets, having choke points, which you need to work as a team to cross, with both shield transporters, and armor repairs while your tanks and drop ships take lead (Ok well not how drop ships are currently, but you get the idea.)
Water Planets. Kamino anyone? Imagine, having to fight over turbulent waters on cat walks, and large walkways between structures being held up above the water. Anyone who's played Star Wars Battlefront who fought at Kamino will remember. It was fun. It would also be where Drop ships would shine, and tanks may end up being non moving bunkers. Which is fine, they can defend. But it would change the tactics completely.
Storm Planets, c'mon, how fun would that be? A planet where all the battles are dark dark with lightning going off, where you actually have to use your vehicles headlights.
There are a huge array of Planets in EVE.. what the frack?
I understand to make maps for each planet type will be a long process, but I was expecting idk.. at least 1 more of a large difference than the barren landscape of utter boringness we have now.
Idk, what do you guys think? With how long Dust was in development, I was really expecting... more... If anything larger maps... you know, so drop ships aren't utterly useless... |

Is there any word on any of it? I'm not trying to bash CCP, just kinda disappointed myself at the state it was released in. Still feels half polished. |

My first post on these forums back in January was not unlike yours, asking where the hell the gas mining platforms and plasma storms are. The short answer is, as Aisha says, Soon (TM). They're working on it.
CCP's been trying to get the basics down, looking to get a solid game in place, then expand from that core. I applaud the caution, actually: it's a far cry from their "We can do ANYTHING!" attitude from a couple-three years back that allowed the core to slowly wither while the features multiplied.
Eve Online started out in 2003 with only the basic T1 frigates, cruisers, and battleships. I don't think they even had destroyers. DUST is currently in a similar state to what Eve was then.
Patience. With any luck, we'll get what we were hoping for within the first three years and be someplace totally unexpected by year six. |

Some of the stuff you mention as being not difficult (lava worlds, water worlds, storms) are not only difficult but were also always a far off idea. |

"half polished" is pretty darn generous if you ask me. |

I understand this, and I'm keeping my hopes up because of it. I guess maybe I didn't write out my post totally properly either. |

I responded with, that with the weapons currently available to the tanks that would make most sense... |
