Hello,
Granted we have lots of customization options in Dust for just about anything. These are great, they are functional. However, once you have created your fit, you don't really change em much until you get new skill for new toys, and even then its a quick customization and more of the same.
How about adding even more depth in customization, but without affecting game play? One that is completely about style and appearance and that can/will be changed often so the game doesn't feel like such a grind sometimes?
I would suggest glamour items. Such as a badass looking helm with horns that can be applied to any heavy suit. Doesn't change the function of whatever you have equipped, but the appearance. Have these items be rewards for capturing certain faction areas, participating in battles, or as rare salvage and/or purchase. They would be BPO and could override the style format of whatever functional piece you are using.
At least let us start by being able to customize the color....
I am just as apt to choose a fit for the style than for the combat bonus. At least that's what I keep telling myself every time I don the Valor Scout Suit.
This has been successful in MMORPG's for years, and would easily do the same here. I like to use the DCUO customization "suits" as a prime example of this being done correctly.
I am not too proud to say I would like to be donning the most functional fit, and not have to sacrifice style to do so.

So give the same suits but let us give them cosmetic changes so they look different. |

Exactly. Keeps it interesting and allows you to do something other than grind. Also keeps it exciting to "Farm" for that rare style, ect. I think just being able to change the colors would be cool and a way to make corp "uniforms". Although having custom styles would be the epitome of coolness, even something simple such as color options would go a long way. |

I could just imagine getting a rare, "Amarr Heavy Spike Torso" style as a salvage drop. A spiked torso style that can be applied to any heavy suit. Also would be a big seller once player marketplace comes into being I would imagine. |

Trouble with this customization of apearances is that CCP and more so art department has traditionally been VERY strict and tight about how it's game(s) look and feel.
So I highly doubt we see anything like 'horns' or 'bling items'. |

You could very much be right and I get the same feeling. However it's worth it to dream of a perfect world. However, I do think at least some customization involving colors or color schemes would be acceptable and an easy add-on with a great reaction by the populace overall. I don't know anyone who would object to being able to change that bright yellow logi color. And I think my Valor suit camo would look better in green lol. |

The lack of cosmetic items for AUR is puzzling, yet sort of not.
Personally, I would wait until PvE is in and working well before offering customization options for AUR. From what I've seen, the pvp fanboys don't typically buy too much of that stuff, while people who just like kicking back with friends and owning some mobs usually do.
So, release the AUR cosmetic customization like a month after good working PvE is introduced and advertised. |

This sounds like a good Idea. I was actually telling corpies virtually the same thing earlier today.
My suggestion is to add a "camouflage slot" next to the dropsuit slot in the fitting wheel. Then each merc would be able to apply different color variations to their dropsuits. I don't think this would be very hard to incorporate into the world of New Eden either; they could make camouflage designs based on say each bloodline of each race. |

I was thinking along the same lines. At least have a small color wheel to select a color scheme, and can be right on the edit fits page. |

I don't run a logi, but still feel bad for the logi's stuck in the neon yellow suits lol. Although the logi's do get the coolest masks. |
