In Skirmish and Domination, I've been seeing a rise in people not caring about the objective and playing the game for the sake of playing it, but I've seen a rise in peope taking an entire squad (and more) and just camp the top of a building or wall. Every time this happens, my squad and the blue dots are able to win the game. The matches get really boring because there's no one to kill, people just sit up there and start picking off blueberries who are stupid to leave cover.
Thing is, the enemy doesn't care if they win or lose, the incentive isn't great enough to win. The only incentive for anyone joining any match is to pad your KDR/WP. Not to make isk. I think that if we include greater rewards for the victors of a much, maybe doubling the ISK gain from any given match, and maybe doubling the SP gain for the victors, this would be a great motivator. Granted, the SP increase only works until they're capped out, then it's just a matter of the ISK incentive.
I find that Corp Matches are really fun because they're played as they're mean to be played. Focused largely on the objectives and rarely on cloning out your enemy or padding your KDR. |

1.5x isk? 50% higher chance of getting salvage... that you can use. |

Going off on another tangent, how about getting salvage for the "favorite weapon" and "favorite dropsuit" used? |

Have to agree here, as I see no difference in SP or ISK gains whether I win or lose; only difference is some salvage I won't use and I can't even sell (thus cluttering my assets). If a match is so clearly going t!ts-up, I'll just find a spot and snipe, because that's fun for me, and there's no incentive to do otherwise; it'd just hurt my lifetime KDR. I see the same from the other side: if we're trouncing the enemy, half of them quit or just hide out, making it incredibly dull for play (though I'm an 8-year EVE player -- main is Spork Witch, if people want to look me up -- so I care about the outcome in my merc matches, because I don't want those Caldari scum to benefit).
Victors should definitely get something more than just crappy salvage to make us care about more than just WP and KDR; winning should matter more than just the points for kills and hacks you get win or lose. |
