So far I've learned: He's played dust for a total time of about 10 hours He thinks planetary conquest is a mode in eve He doesn't see a point in eve and dust being connected He invested barely any SP into his character He never made it out of the rookie academy

to be fair he probably has to review six of these f2p shooters a day, and dust didn't seem all that different aside from the eve connection he never researched, the fitting system which he doesn't seem to understand, the market which he didn't even look into...
i'd be less peeved if he was at least accurate. the game IS pretty grindy and there is not much diversity in game modes to alleviate that as of yet |

And if DUST didn't make an impression on him why should it do any better for the average gamer? |

If after 10 hours Dust didn't make an impression which is almost half a day then it wont make an impression. Dust is a very bland game there is nothing exciting about it. No one wants to grind 3 months just to get a slightly better gun that looks exactly like the one you just had or doesn't really perform any different. |

3 months of grinding is like 4.4 mil SP. but yes the game does have a bad case of grind, there isn't much to be done about it though otherwise everyone will have full proto in a week and nothing to spend SP on |

While that may be true no one wants to sit around that long to play to get better stuff when they are getting trashed on by players that already have 10 mil SP. At launch CCP should've wiped the slate clean. We've been playing Dust for a year we still have knowledge of how the game works over new players. The people that didn't want a reset just wanted to keep there crutches IMO. |

Please explain to him that: How having to restock items is not an issue since end match rewards more than cover the cost of standard and militia items (if possible, introduce him to the militia section of the market), and how it adds a risk aspect to balance out high tiered gear. He doesn't need to spend AUR to get a scrambler rifle, and how easy it is to unlock standard scrambler rifle. That there are no $5 sniper rifles, and the actual price of AUR BPC weapons. You're not suppose to review an MMO in 10 hours.

Players warned CCP about the grind and aur items and that it will scare off newcomers, but instead CCP increased skill multipliers and added aur proto. 5k people at the release of a f2p game is low. Effective managers at their finest. |

Effective managers at their finest. aurum items are the same as isk items it just takes less skill to use them and they just lowered the skill multiplier also you shouldn't be able to fly through the game and hit proto in a few weeks |

much better solution is just a matchmaking system, so fights are always tough. although this could be a problem in that you never feel like you're advancing

That reviewer should be fired. I just tried out Defiance when my close friend let me try it out for the week. I went through one mission and I was not impressed. I don't know where to begin to describe the horror. My brother tried for only ten seconds before he rushed to me and asked "can I take the game out of the xbox now?" |
