I just specced into them and OMG they really are awful. I suggest a PG, HP, and speed buff of about 100%. |

Speed is fine on the Assault one, I can out-fly swarms if i'm smart enough to begin to accelarate out of a hot situation in time. On the Logistics and normal variants, they are really damn slow BUT I would not mind the speed IF CCP gave dropships a serious HP buff and yes, a PG increase so we can fit enough modules with decent turrets. |

Perhaps you are just a bad pilot. It takes time, skill, and proper fitting knowledge to get them down pat and survivable. KNOW the different ships, their roles, their speeds, and what best to fit for what you are trying to do. Simply stating "they suck" without any experience with them is counterproductive. |

The dropships are a useless profession at the moment. my side gunners got about 10 kills each and i got a total of 150,000 return on a 400,000 ship. granted the first one i did lose to fair means. however when i land my ship and then it proceeds to flip after its on the ground and has stopped moving is ridiculous. not to mention that there is literally no benefit for a pilot putting a cru unit on a ship. you put one on there you have to take off shields making it easy to be shot down and you get no benefit from doing this. you just get shot down and lose usually about 200,000 isk minimal and if youre just dropping in troops all game and are basically the reason you took the point because you could just keep putting guys there you get nothing from that. if you lose that ship you are out atleast 100,000 isk. while i dont agree with everything he said there are things that need changed about the dropship to make it a reasonable profession. |

Alright; lets go over this at your speed - slowly.
1) You are a support character. I can often get into the top 5 of the leaderboards even at 0/0 kdr throughout a match, but that is not always the case. We are there to transport troops, to provide a safe and mobile spawn point, and to give fire-support on ground locations. Never forget that.
2) Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Many corporations will fund their Dropship pilots, unless he is more of a Derpship pilot. Find one. Xercore treats their pilots well, and I am sure others will if you show promise. They are not huge 'money-makers' but they can make a difference within a match if you learn how to approach situations.
3)The CRU issue... is something I can agree with you on. It still needs WP for spawn in and I am kind of bothered by the fact that it hasn't been initialized... HOWEVER. My advise, get to the Logistics level of Dropship for your race and fly that. It has a CRU built in which allows you to fit more of what you need, bypassing the CRU skill almost entirely.
If you are flipping your ship, that's bad on you buddy. Set your sensitivity to your prime level, and keep testing it out. Know that Militia Dropships DO NOT handle as well as the Standard/Logi dropships, and in turn none of them handle as nicely as the Assault, which is the priciest.
Good flying, hope you put up a good fight in a match sometime. |

Also - target tanks and installations. Both go pop and give good ISK/WP rewards to all parties involved. Also- keep just one turreteer. More than one tends to drain much away from your ground squad's effectiveness. |

The problem with dropships isn't the lack of fitting space, the speed, or the HP. It's the lack of defined role. Even if they implemented points for CRU spawning, and points for troop transport (as we pilots have been requesting for months) the maps are too small to ever actually justify their use. That's not even mentioning the blue dots that will spawn into the dropship and then just spend the rest of the match clogging up the passengar cabin.
When they implement larger teams and bigger maps we'll see a role for dropships. Until then they're just a fun way to lose a million isk. |
