From the 5/22 release:

The Racial dropsuits, while unlocking Proto at level 5, serve mostly as a gateway into the Role-specific suits (i.e Assault and Logistics). In the past, you needed to level this skill to 5 before you could get into the role suits... and get the bonus (i.e. Shield Recharge and reload speed) that the role-suits provide.
With the 5/22 release, this "gateway" was reduced from level 5 down to level 3. Yes, the modifier was reduced from 6x to 4x, and we did get a reimbursement here, which is nice.
However, most players skilled this to level 5 as a way to get into role-suits... and now that is unnecessary. What's worse... this skill doesn't impart any bonus at all (like x% to CPU or Powergrid, +xx hp to shield/armor, etc.) so skillpoints here only serve to open the "basic-proto" suit... something that many people will now skip over in order to push for the Role-proto suit.
So, here is my request:
In the next few days, could you please reimburse all the skillpoints for the "Racial Frame" skills, and allow us to allocate points as desired... and as a new player spec'ing into suits would.

I doubt that's going to happen. If you really want that SP I'd suggest that you apply for the optional respec. |

Dear CCP,
I would like to request a reimbursement on my respec that was recently refunded and respecced, also, if i can have all my real money back from you that i ever spent on the game that would be a nice bonus because i deserve everything and more.
thanks CCP, you guys really suck and this game is lame...but i want all that stuff .... now. <3

Probably will... just highlighting the fact that when requirements for things change, it might be good to do a full refund on the skills affected. Particularly when the changes represent potentially weeks worth of training.

Also the advanced suits still use BOTH skills for their bonuses so even if it unlocks at lvl 3, you're only getting 3 levels worth of skills on the suit. Optimal specialist suit performance will require 5 in both. |

I thought the basic just unlocked the suits and didn't give a per level bonus did I miss something here? |

Taking the Amarr Assault Dropsuit description for example:
There is a bonus for:
Assault Dropsuits
Amarr Assault Dropsuits
Now, "Amarr Assault Dropsuits" is a skill.
There is no "Assault Dropsuits" skill.

Could you spell that out a bit more clearly and provide more details? As far as I know, the "Amarr Medium Dropsuits" skill for example, was only a prerequisite for buying the specialized suits, such as the "Amarr Assault Dropsuits" skill. From the descriptions in game the prerequisite skill in question here provides no bonuses whatsoever, it only allows permission to unlock the specialized variants. |

Sometimes, it is baffling why CCP doesn't put all relevant information in one place. Moar oddly, they tend to leave out at least one obvious important aspect to the information they release resulting in a flood of redundant forum posts asking for the same clarification.
It's like they have this down to a science. It's a very microsofty way to do things. like old guard techie help desk tactics. |
