I'm really good at Dust 514, so good that I can't take a loss. When I lose I get so fu**** angry at myself for not beating the other team or playing better, even if it wasn't my fault. I end up smashing controllers against the wall, throwing my ps3 (thrown it 5 times at least now) into my wall, and inflicting pain on myself. (Usually slapping my face until blood is pouring out of it and my nose bleeds.) It's not every time I lose but mainly when I die many times in a row.
This happens with every FPS I play, if I'm not the best, I punish myself. I'm not crazy, I don't need therapy, every other aspect of my life is okay I guess. When my dad asks what happened I usually tell him I tripped and fell on my face.
Why does this happen to me...? Can anyone relate? No? |

Oh awesome, so thats what hapoens everytime I put one through your head. Seriously man, calm down. Losing the plot over a game just isn't right. It hints at anger management issues. |

And this is why humanity sucks. Complete lack of compassion for anyone but themselves, it's disgusting really how sad all of you are trolling me. What if I did have anger issues, what if I do need therapy?
You people are the same ones telling the guy on the edge of a building to jump. I pray one day you all go through denial or some sort of tragic event and ask for help and nobody helps you.
You people aren't even human. |

Honestly dude I can relate, never "punished" myself physically but I've busted a few controller's. Sometimes from being angry at bad game mechanic's (spawning, stuck on environment) or more occasionally because I'm not playing well and know I can do better. Also never broken my ps3, not exactly cheap to me.
Seriously though dude you should consider counseling or at the very least talk to someone you trust. Physically harming yourself for any reason is a serious problem. |

Remember this.
No matter how good you think you are, there will always be someone better then you. Be it skill, latency, gear. No amount of planning is going to allow you to beat this person. So if you lose, forget about it and move on.
Secondly, there will be times when you will be denied a game you enjoy. For example I play mainly sniper, but I have been in ambush games where I will die over and over if I keep trying to play that way.
When that happens I change. I get in my newbie suit and spam them and keep coming at them, slowly making them weaker. Or if it is a case of resources, I run away. I draw them away from others. I will run back, tag them to keep them away from others.
Stop playing the game their way. They want you to fight, they want you to die. Don't give that to them. If they want you to die, make the game about you staying alive. If they want you to fight, then make the game about having them chase you.
Lastly.. when you lose.
To deal with the situation, you need to remove yourself from it. Remember this when you lose badly.
First you need to imagine yourself looking at the situation a week later. The loss didn't happen now, it happened a week ago. Now critically think about what it is that happened a week ago. Did they have a better set up? How could have changed the situation? What do you need to do going forward.
The main point is to not think of yourself in that situation, but instead looking at it if as if you watching a TV program, but it is someone else who lost. Not you.
Hopefully that will help with your stress.
.. .As others have mentioned, it isn't healthy to do self harm in this fashion. So I would recommend to be truthful to someone you trust (parent or teacher).

you should print a picture of whatever dropsuit is killing you the most, tape it to your pillow, and whenever you get really angry punch the crap out of the pillow. |

Easy- just change your playstyle so you never truly lose, and then realize that. Dust and Eve aren't about winning and losing- they're about gain vs loss. When you start taking a beating on the battlefield, use cheaper gear.
Winning the battle doesn't matter if you lose ISK Losing the battle doesn't matter if you gain ISK Well, for instant battles and other contracts at least. For PC you also have to factor in potential future profit. |

You need something you are lacking.
No one in these forums can help you because we do not know you.
Fortunately you already know what it is and unless you go and get it, like the sensible side of you brain keeps yelling at you to do, none of your dreams desires or aspirations will ever come true because when and if you achieve anything: it will not be enough to satiate you.
Like a fat guy who never gets full. This is what they call "feeling empty".
You know exactly what I'm talking about, and you know exactly what you need to do about it. |

That is their get out of jail free, that they were joking.
Well never know the truth, unless in a few years another shooting takes place because someone couldn't control aspects of their life and decided to take the lives of others, which they believed would somehow give their own life some significance. |
