Hello,
Me and two of my friends want to get going on some DUST 514.
We all have passive accounts running since the SP reset during beta, and the SP has been un-allocated post Uprising.
I have 3 years of EVE experience as a care-bear, so skills and fitting come naturally for me. My friends have no idea what they're doing so they follow my guidance.
We're looking into how to set up our characters so we have good synergy. All three of us are good 'team players' so we are not afraid to be medics (or are they called logibros now?) or tanks, etc.
I was thinking Heavy/Logi works well, and the third could be HAV driver?
If anyone could recommend a good trio that, with good co-ordination, could dominate and handle most situations, that would be fantastic.
Skills + Fits would be helpful, at least a rough outline I can work with.
I have roughly 3.8m SP, one of my friends likely has a bit more, one of them a little less. |

heavy/logi/HAV sounds like a good trio.
As long as you all spec into Duvolle TAR and have modded controllers, or KB/M with the fire button mapped to the wheel, it really doesn't matter after that you will be leet! |

I'd suggest Assault/Logi/Heavy
Or Scout/logi/heavy
or Logi/Logi/Logi
You guys will probably all want to run together, so don't go vehicles. Anti-vehicle is fine, but going into vehicles will split you up, (and you'll have less fun).
Heavy specialize in holding the line and defense. When they place themselves on an objective, they can be really hard to push off ot it.
Logi's do everything pretty well. Their large number of high/low slots means they can tank or assault well, and their multiple equipment slots means they are REALLY useful to a squad/team.
Asaaults are supposed to be the kings of 1v1's and for the most part they are... but maybe not because logi's are really good.
Scouts are great for a skilled gamer in pub matches. They are a much more niche role in competitive where people are likely to not miss you as much as you need them to. But that speed is still a lot of fun.
Take a close look at the different bonues each of the racial variants get. Try to figure out which suit will best fit your individual play styles. |

Scout for active scanning, logibro for logibroing, and heavy for damage would pretty cool. Also make sure someone has good LAV skills for transport and general lulz. |

Thanks for the advice guys.
The scout/logi/heavy sounds interesting, can a scout roll well with a team? I thought it was more sniper on a hill with an ammo pack stuff. How would you play as a team?
assault/logi/heavy probably has my vote so far. Any suggestions on weapons? From what I read logi is good with medium short-medium ranged engagements, assault is a bit more long-medium. I have played the Heavy before and not had much success with him. Would he just run ahead of the logi and mow things down?
Also how to deal with vehicles? I avoid them as much as possible. Who is best suited to fight them? Heavy with a FG?
Thanks, I'm...pretty terrible at DUST so far. |

The LAVs are pretty quick... a swarm launcher (anyone can use) is good as it will lock on. Just use the supply depot and change your fit if you find the "murder taxis" are taking over the field.
Pro tip... most people are bad they just talk big. More seriously, check out some clips on YouTube for PC battles. Even the good players get killed a lot. |

Personally, I'd create new characters and play around a bit in the academy first to familiarise yourself with the game for a bit and then work out what to do once you've settled on a playstyle you like. |

as cute as these suggestions all are, and how nice it would be for them to actually be useful, the truth is your best actual option is to run 3 TAC ARs on Caldari Medium Frames with a smattering of complimentary equipment.
If you want to whip up against vehicles too, just have one guy go Heavy/Forge Gun instead of TAC AR and you've got all vehicles covered and hardly lose an ounce of anti-infantry. |

That is untill more weapons are released and balance hammer is brought down on them. Then that tactic will be useless and if they don't like the play style they wasted all their SP on useless advice. :) |

It makes a lot more sense to skill for what works now, rather than try to guess what might be good at some unknown point in time in the future. Otherwise you'll just end up perpetually waiting for whatever is coming up next. |

I daresay I heard a certain CPM (whose remains are currently worth 250 mill eve side) tried that approach with his skill points...only to be informed that the respec would invalidate the necessity of waiting so spend them. Bring everything to can to the table now is my suggestion. |
