I remember in earlier builds to reach my hives or explosives all I had to do was cycle through them with R2. Now the only way to access equipment is through the wheel, which is a pain for dualshock. It just takes longer this way. Before all I had to do was remember the order of my equipment and tap the R2 button quickly to get there. There's gotta be a simple toggle worth putting this back into the game for those who desire it (as a logi, I am constantly rifling through equipment and the wheel is only a hindarence) |

Yeah i also noticed this and hoped i can remap my controller layout... well seems CCP don't want us to-be able to configure to the most comfortable way to play. While most other games also prevent this sort of fine-tuning, CCP and Dust obviously is not like "most" other company's/games.
So yes DS3 trigger + unprecise stick wobbling to select equipment as logi, feels crappy! |

In reality the weapon wheel is faster. if you have 4 equipment slots filled up and need that repair tool thats 4 R2 presses away, your wasting precious time cycling through 3 tools to get to 1. when all you have to do is press 2 buttons, R2, DOWN, boom, repairing. although some people don't like this change, it was for the best. |

The tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Try the squad orders radial and see how much of a cluster that is too. |

Except that its just 1 click if setup correctly, i want to-be able to cycle through my equipment using L2/R2 as forward and backward option or alternatively being able to setup 1 equipment slot as direct/quick hot-button action.
Also since all inputs are laggy and clunky in general in DUST, i have to be very precise with my "DOWN" action or u end up selecting nothing or a other item. In average i need several seconds to switch from my weapon to the repairtool, because of this crappy design. The consequence is that i mainly run around with my tool equipped, since i cant afford to loose those seconds, because in the heat of the battle i don't have those seconds and i also don't want to miss-select.
If u feel comfortable using the "default" layout fine, but why are there like 7 different input schemes, that all don't address this problem of faster and directer equipment switching? |

OK, in response to your example.
Order your equipment correctly and multiple button presses would be much more efficient than fiddling with the wheel(Provided they don't limit the cycle speed in any way). 1) Nanite (although shouldn't be needed if they get circle working) 2) Repair 3) Ammo Hive 4) Droplink
If they get circle working then you can put nanite on 4 so there's only 3 to scroll through. And of those only one is really a "heat of battle" pull out (the repper) others can take a second or two as you would be dropping the in places of cover anyway (or at least you should).
Multiple button presses worked in MAG as once you are used to it muscle memory will take over and you chosen equipment will be a few quick button presses.
For squad orders tho.... I am stumped, but as again they "shouldn't" be heat of battle choices maybe the wheel could work (if it worked) for on the fly orders but have a more complex system on the map screen allowing for waypoints and multiple orders. |
