Dear CCP,
I am a compulsive numbers cruncher but I would like some fact checking on my math. I hope that a CCP member can and will answer this as it will help me better use my skill points.
1.) The percent modifier for ammo capacity is 3% for every level. LetGÇÖs pretend that I have this skill at 5 on a gun that has a base ammo capacity of 3. Does this mean that I will get 15% of 3 which is still no where close enough to account for an increase in max ammo to 4? If this is found to be true Then you would have saved me a lot of skill points. 2.) If my gun has a reload time of 3 seconds and the best I can hope for is to get 15% decreased reload time via the ( reload proficiency perk ) does this mean my reload time is going to be next to 3 seconds regardless of how high that skill is? 3.) LetGÇÖs take the dropsuit shields + shields extender combo. If I have dropsuit shields at level 5 at 5% increase of total shields , then I get a 25% increase J me likely this. Easy math, if my base shields are 100, IGÇÖve just gone to 125 shields hp. Now if I attach a shield extender thatGÇÖs worth 50hp does this mean that I get 25% increase of the shield extender as well? Or do I get 25% of the base shields ( 125 +50) which is going/ be about 213 ?
Thanks guys! If you have an algorithm book please send it may way!

Capacity skills affect your ammo in reserve, not in the clip. Reload speed skills are relatively useless on guns with a fast baseline reload. (Unless you are stacking with a racial suit reload bonus; though it's still pricey. |

Thanks makes sense . I agree reloading seems very wasteful on a scrambler pistol , unless they change it so that you can have 1 second reload time. I also see that while having more ammo in capacity is good not seeing the change in clip size and the over abundance of nanohives, this skill as well has limited application hahaha. Any idea about the shields ? |

The 25% shield bonus only affects your base HP, not shield externders. Shield externders are affected by the "shield extending" skill (2% per level). Same goes for armor and the respective skills. |

Hmm that's a very interesting concept about shields ... I stand to gain more from level 4 drop suit shields then tanking in extenders to 5 , so now I have no incentive to max out dropsuit shields to 5 . This is a big game play shift from the last skills tree of beta. It also seems counter productive . It also seems that no matter how you spec it's gonna come down to how you use it. I'd love for CCP to address these issues . |

As a shield tanker, you benefit greatly from unlocking complex extenders at shield extending lvl 5. The drop suit shields skill is more appealing because its bonus is independent from the modules you use, so it's also useful for armor tankers in a way. Eventually, you'll be maxing out both skills anyway. In the mean time, you'll have to make a decision, but that's the fun of it, isn't it? |

The plasma cannon has 9 ammo total I believe. So, maxing ammo capacity at 15% adds... 1 ammo? Talk about a waste... |

CCP generally doesn't believe in rounding actual, true the display may show such but its still decimated long form as possible. |

I was just informed that I was misinformed about the bonuses during the beta from the beta . A GM emaile me , glad to see the information is consistent with yours. Your right it's very appealing and addicting because I like numbers and numbers crunching . Also making the first big decision is almost entertaining with this new skills tree because there is a way ( provided that you have 5million sp or more ) to build a really good character that you can last a year with and not require a lot of skill points " here's and there" and ultimately in dust , he who saves and plans for the skill up in 3 months is better off. You made an interesting point on 25% bonus for people that armor tank.
Also it is confirmed that all skills don't benefit equally. That said once you eliminate those skills such as ammo capacity on plasma cannon or accuracy on a hmg , you become able to do more faster and not use aurum |
