So, uhh, I have been experimenting with militia LAVs and have come up with this: Add a militia active scanner to it. It costs only 9,600 ISK. When you approach a hot area, simply activate the module and drive through the area. This will highlight all reds within a decent enough area for your teammates. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can also try to position the LAV in such a manner that it acts as a portable wall, hop out while activating the module , take cover behind it and slaughter all reds. The best part about this is that it costs only 9,600 ISK, and thus, quite expendable. Just be wary of AV grenades, as the splash damage from them can kill you |

No, I think this should stay here. With all the talk of LAVs being either OP or otherwise, it's still important people understand their role, and what they're actually good for. I run a Methana set up with an active scanner and a light tank + overdrive. It's been hit by multiple swarms + AV grenades running a DC and resist plating, and I've only ever lost the one to a lucky swarm shot that I was just not fast enough to avoid.
With the active scanner though, the LAV goes from murder taxi to an annoying advanced fast recon unit. Nova knife/shotgun scout hiding somewhere behind cover? Fly past at 50kph running the active scanner and reveal his position. Then, if you can, run him over. If he's in cover, then you have a turret. Same goes for all infantry - grab a turret gunner and use him. Also, if you see a LAV on field that is actually being USED and looked after by a good driver, and he has no gunner, jump on and help out if you're any good with those turrets. I had a great match the other day, found a brilliant turret gunner that I've now recruited to UDHI and I swear he went as many kills with the blaster as I did the bumper. Plus, we were able to reveal all the enemies little hidey holes, and friendly forces were able to maneuver in a considerably effective fashion, taking brilliant flanking positions from directions that we would just not have thought of without knowing enemy positions first hand.
Want to know how to fit an LAV? Start with an active scanner. You're just another nub-bumper-bunny without it
Not that I disagree with bumper kills, hell I do it myself. |
