There's been a lot of chatter recently regarding Planetary Conquest and ease of entry. Players have been worried about awoxing. Many corporations are now realizing they've done nothing to properly secure their corporations for Planetary Conquest.
That's their fault. Proper corporate structure is something several groups have already done and as such, intelligent players are already safe.
But there is an issue with PC battle entry beyond awoxing. Being unable to control who enters the battle is a problem. Idiot newbies might join the battle and, without voice coms, not know how to leave it. Not much of an issue for those with proper corp structure, but it's merely an example.
There is a simple solution that prevents more innocent and annoying problems from occurring without effectively removing awoxers from the equation.
Roles.
Introduce a Commander role. This Commander can invite players and squads to the battle, allowing them to join should they wish. This is the only change. If an awoxer is invited to the battle and he has a squad of his friends ready to disrupt the match, they cannot be removed from the warbarge or the battle.
This allows for a quality of life improvement without effectively removing the awox threat. Thus, it is preferred to more inane solutions, such as the ability to kick players out of your battle. |

I agree. I really enjoy hearing stories of corp level shenanigans happening throughout New Eden and would endorse such things because it keeps people on their toes and provides for some entertainment in the meantime. However, the current system does need to be augmented with the ability for commanders to restrict entry into PC battles so that some newberry thats still green behind the ears wont stumble into an important battle and screw it up for everyone. |
