Since the deployment of Uprising, the range at which the squad leader can set orders has been reduced way too far.
I understand having a limit (kind of), but the limit imposed is far too short.
The way I see it, if you can see them on the map you should be able to set squad orders on them. After all, isn't that the whole point of the tac-net system? So you can see your team/enemies and coordinate?
I like the idea (not new to uprising) that if an enemy goes out of scan range/line of sight and drops of the tac-net, attack orders will disappear. That makes perfect sense. The heavily restrictive range on defend orders on team mates does not make sense to me.
There are still other issues like the weapon menu staying up after setting an order and also how it has become more difficult than last build to actually set the order on a moving target. I can deal with those for now.
The nerf on squad order range seems entirely unnecessary.

Also any feedback from the devs on why this nerf happened in the first place would be appreciated. |

It's seems to be affected by the range of your equiped weapon. When I use my SMG/scout fit the range is severely limited, but my sniper rifle is a whole different story. |

I love playing squad leader but it has become very difficult with this happening all the time, and sometimes with the wheel all screwing up and selecting the wrong order or just not working at all. |

+1.
Of multiple reasons Squad orders being now pain to use, the range limitation is both stupid and cumbersome. IF there would be some marvellous reason to limit the range, even then it is awful way to find out target is out of range by trying - and having get the def order again from the menu. Add mouse disfunction and we have a troll of an UI.
You say people are such small signatures hard to detect? Even it it would make sense to have range limitation on squad members, it surely does not to have the limitation on objectives. For example, Bravo objective is glowing on hud 300m away. SQ LDR cannot set 'capture' on it because it is too far away. Please.
You say objective is too far away to be a realistic target? Imagine home base deployment. Squad getting on a dropship. SQ LDR would like to attack far away objective Echo or a CRU next to it. No-no, squads can and should only play with things they can touch.
Please let SQ LDRs have no range limitation on orders. |

big bump this current behaviour of squad order does not even reflect the demo from fanfest where a dropship pilot issued squad orders |
