I am not posting this in anger or anything, but it seems unbalanced in that if you wait until far enough into the game, you can be sure none of your opponents will have an AV set up, nor will they be able to change into one. It is an easy way to rack up a lot of kills without any serious risk. I have no problem with tanks in normal play because of the cost to use them, but assault matches are especially unsuited for them being that it is not isk lost vs isk lost, but kills vs kills.
I am not going to suggest any direct ways to fix it, just that it needs attention.
No. "...you can be sure none of your opponents will have an AV set up, nor will they be able to change into one. It is an easy way to rack up a lot of kills..."
I've addressed the solution here. TLDR; it's not for CCP to fix, it's up to the players to do something about by having something ready. If a tank spawns and you get killed by it, respawn with an anti-armour fit and start laying into it. If you can make it to a supply depot, do that instead. The more players hitting it with AV, the better you'll do, and the greater the cost to your enemy. If you don't have an anti-armour fit to switch to, then it's entirely your own stupid fault for being unprepared to adapt to changing circumstances on the battlefield, hence when you hear people say "adapt or die", what they are actually saying is, if you don't or can't adapt, you will die.

"I have no problem with tanks in normal play because of the cost to use them, but assault matches are especially unsuited for them being that it is not isk lost vs isk lost, but kills vs kills." So why are they a problem then? They are just another cog in the war machine It is a problem because it is a stand alone cog that renders the others less necessary; it is part of no machine.
But it is an expensive cog, which is killable by cheaper stuff, making it a potential liability as well as a tactical asset. |
