I found out today what it means to be screwed over by your friends. I was kicked from this corp for no greater crime than stating my opinion. The learning curve is steep, but fruitful. :D
I've been playing this game about 1 1/2 months now. Before the update (Uprising), I donated 30mil to my corp. The Shadow Cavalry Mercenaries (TSCAM) and they looked like a pretty decent corp. They were obviously underdogs, but they appeared on the surface to be fairly organized. The people that played there appeared to be decent people (in general, but with a few notable exceptions).
Just before Uprising, the corp was robbed by a long-term acquaintance of the CEO, Pegasis Prime (LOL). So far as i know, the guy that ripped them off had played with Pegasis Prime in previous games to this and had been a friend with him for a year in this game. He got away with about 450mil. This is small beer to EVE players, but considering this is a corp with approximately 12 active members and the Dust/EVE economies are not yet linked, this is a sizeable sum. In order to enter PC, the CEO and some directors funded the clone pack out of their personal wallets. This is pretty respectable, but the respect stops here.
When I learned that the corp had been robbed, I immediately donated a further 10mil from my personal funds, however I've capped out 2 characters per week since I starteed playing so while this is a lot of ISK, I can afford the loss.
Pegasis Prime is an awesome tanker, MarkOfDeath is an excellent proto logi. However, it pretty much stops there. StarCrash II is an ok assault, but without a team behind him, he's nothing special. He's pretty decent at flying dropships, but never really causes much damage with them (even with MarkOfDeath gunning). I'm sure it's fun, but it doesn't really help the team.
I'll close by commenting a post on the private forum that I don't think went through...
Quote:The main point I was trying to make is that the infantry have little feedback from the officers as to their performance. Also, there is no currently accepted channel available for the infantry to provide feedback to the officers as to the officer performance. I suggested a post-match "debriefing" where it was possible for both the officers and the infantry to kind of "exchange notes", but this was ignored.
Personally, I think that improved communication between officers and infantry can only be of benefit to the corp as a whole. We all have lives outside the game and many of the skills that we have acquired over the course of our lives can be of benefit to the corp. The benefits of these skills can only be leveraged through communication.
Let me provide a brief example... PC.
I'm pretty sure that none of us expected to maintain our foothold for long, but thanks to the swiftness in the actions of peg and star, we acquired a region straight away. We fought well for that region and eventually lost it. I don't see this as a loss, I see this as a victory in both experience and knowledge. In the first battle we were outnumbered, outgunned, out-skilled and out-trained, but we still managed to hold an objective to the end. The second battle was less successful, but we put up a good fight and avoided a redline.
The officers had a post-match "debriefing" after each of these battles (apparently) and made decisions based on our performance, however nothing of the results of these discussions was passed on to the infantry. We fought for the corp mostly expecting to lose, but with the possibility of success motivating us to fight on. We didn't expect hugs, kisses, cute toys and conciliatory notes when we lost, but we didn't expect to be ignored either.
Even if the loss can be mostly attributed to "they had better gear than us", this is a poor summary of the battle. We did many things right that would have gone better if we had better gear, we did things wrong that would still have resulted in a lack of success if we had better gear. "They had better gear than us" is true, but is a cop-out. "They got to the compound before us" is true, but when they did we were in complete disarray and had no fallback position.
Star has said that "too much information confuses them". This is completely insulting to people who manage far more information than a basic battle plan with a couple of contingencies on a daily basis as a part of their professional careers. It is a poor reason for not properly formulating a battle plan. If you do have a properly formulated plan then tell us. If you want us to "trust the officers" then show us that they are trustworthy.
I don't think I'm alone in wanting more than "Trust The Officers" as a response when I ask what can be done to improve the corp's performance. We are a team... All of us. I would like it if the officers could acknowledge this.
But back to my original point...
Communication is important. From the officers to the infantry, but also from the infantry to the officers. The infantry have a lot to give, in addition to our time and our suits. Feedback (both ways) following a momentous battle would be beneficial to both the infantry and the officers (not to mention the corp as a whole through providing a community spirit).
One possible way of achieving this is a "debriefing", which I visualize as an informal after-match discussion between the whole team. The infantry can give feedback on officer de
This is a dysfunctional corp with an incompetent CEO and a poor officer structure.
The corp members are really nice people, but don't be decieved. This is not the kind of corp that you want to join unless you want to assume the role of a slave.
The officers have absolutely no respect whatsoever for the rest of the corp. Not sure what game they think they're playing, but the officers expect the rest of the corp to act like bots and make them look good. I can only assume that the officer elite has only ever played the single player mode of FPS games |

There are a ton of corps with two or three decent shooters, a horde of suck who these shooters carry, and people in positions of power who have no business being there. That's pretty much the norm for small corps. It's why they're small.
Sucks that you lost time and cash to one of them, though. Always test the political nous of your leadership before investing. |

So... why did you post this and why do you think anyone would care about a 15 man corp? o . 0
But regardless sounds like some tough times, least the infantry understand communication is important - always a good first step lol |

I posted it in the hope that their current "recruitment drive" doesn't waste any other player's time. Also in the hope that the current members wake up to the situation that they are in.
This corp actually changed the name of their public channel after kicking me so I couldn't talk to anyone directly. LOL
My thoughts were such a threat to them that they took more drastic action after kicking me than they did when they were robbed.
And the second point... Yeah, the infantry knows communication is important, but the officers don't have a clue. |

I did notice this before I joined, but the membership is a really decent group of people. Also, I kinda liked the irony of calling a corp T-SCAM in the New Eden universe... Live and learn. *facepalm* |

Especially after such a **** poor reaction to some good constructive criticism.
I can't imagine their public face looking too good after this fiasco [even if they're a small corp].

This is why it is important that players do their research or investigation into a corp before committing time and resources into them. |

As a small corporation we need to rely on strategy and coordination to simply exist let alone succeed. When on the field Corpse Raider repeatedly disregarded strategy, requests for aid, orders from commanders and officers. He would go off on his own because he felt that the sniper on the hill deserved more attention than the current squad objective. The additional information that he suggests we did not want was his complaining about being sniped, his disagreements with tactics (given without constructive criticism) and constant arguments with anything and everything. He was a good player until he thought he knew everything there was to know about the game.
This was simply a cry for attention by an angry blueberry. Nobody cares about your bad day Corpse, nobody cares that our corp was ripped off, nobody even knows who we are. Have fun being angry, argumentative and attention hungry and thanks for trying to hurt our corporation. Unless you post every day for the next three months nobody will remember this post. |
