With the introduction of the mercenary market and likewise the Mercenary Market channel, we should have a regularly updated blacklist of sorts to permanently record and publicize those mercenaries which betray their contractors.
This list will alleviate some concerns regarding spies and sabotage by creating a community list of individuals which cant be trusted to be hired for legitimate mercenary work. Im hoping this Blacklist will also strengthen the new mercenary market for the future.

Well, how do we mercenaries expect to get hired? We need to make a living and so hopefully by identifying those that are malicious, we can really make a good merc industry here. |

By then it is too late, but after, they could have a loyalty rating that would turn red after a betrayal. That mark would be like a pirate tag and make people think twice before enlisting them. That way recruitment could get sorted out. Right now there is no knowing because there is no system in place. |

This is exactly what I meant when I called out Grief for their betrayal, and then announcing it. In EVE there are MANY merc corps, and the only ones who actually get repeat business are the ones who honor their ORIGINAL contract. There was a famous group called the Mercenary Coalition: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mercenary_Coalition_(Player_alliance) The bracket are part of the link, copy\paste. They survived through thick and thin and caused the creation of EVE's merc market place before they officially shut their doors and retired.
The reason they were so popular and respected? They honored their contract to completion. Even if better offers came in. They were so successful because they were RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY.
Not one merc corp in Dust is anywhere close to their level of reputation. |
