Who incentives people to not work together?
The bonus points from squad leader orders aside the WP system is just ridiculous.
In a competent game if you have 3 people running up to an objective what would normally happen? Two of them would scout the room and provide cover while the third hacks right? And not only would the hacker gain points for their job but points would go to those in the immediate vicinity for doing their part.
What happens in this game? All 3 players scramble over who gets to the objective first, no one bothers looking around because only the first person gets full wp and the other two get the crappy assist but ultimately no one gets anything because while all 3 have their backs turned the enemy walks around the corner and blasts all 3 at the same time.
How are you supposed to foster a game based on teamwork when everything about the WP system tells people to do otherwise?
At the start of a game do people order up and move cohesively and with a strategy in mind? No, it's a mad dash for the closest objective so you get that sweet 100 points and then everyone scrambles for the nearest minor hack objectives.
Does anyone ever stay behind to defend an objective? No, because they get more points by running off to the next objective or running back and forth between minor hacks.
When your objective gets hacked does anyone jump on it to take it back before it changes sides? No, everyone lets it sit there because even though taking it back mid hack takes twice as long you get zero points for it and people would rather let it change sides and let enemies start spawning out of it before you try to take it back.

I always counterhack if I have the time...
To me denying them 100wp and sp and that much progress towards their orbital... tastes like tears... sweet salty tears...
And I encourage the zerg rush at the begining more because I want as much captured as possible before the enemy starts shooting me in the face... |

Joining a corporation awards kill wp based on damage dealt to a target? Joining a corporation gives you points for defending an objective rather than running off like an ADD kid off their Ritalin?
Playing with competent people doesn't solve the underlying issue when someone always gets hosed because being a good team player pays out zero points.

As long as OBs are tied to WP some players are going to let the objective flip. The issue with the WP isn't the way points are generated, its the way WPs are needed for OBs. I'm not saying OBs should be free, however as long as WPs are tied to OBs then players are always going to do what it takes to get the most amount of WPs in order to execute OBs. |

I am normally not near the objective when I detonate.

In regards to OVER OB'ing. . . I'd propose a system where the very SMALL vicinity of defending (or defend order ability separate from just tagging tanks etc) allows the defender to tick off a WP every 5 seconds or so to his total. You can't win camping a point obviously so you have to attack but having suppressive fire guys actually defend and slow an advancing enemy while still contributing to the team is so much more dynamic than the current system.
You've now just introduced Snipers Versus Defenders. (make better bunkers than those dumb rocket pods we hack under)
You've created an increased incentive to strategy and squad make up. I mean LET THE LOGI WITH THE HACK MOD AND HACK BONUS HACK! damn. . .
But there are MANY other things CCP needs to add to gain WP as well that Planetside should be the blueprint for. So Include those, spread the ways of the WP system and gives us a dynamic system already which would influence the gameplaydiversity without having to find a way change it. Amazing concept!
