Hey guys, do you know why you keep losing matches when that Gunnlogi shows up? Because everyone just wants to spawn what they've "skilled into" as if that's the only weapon that should work on the battleground, and screw everything else. That's why you want the weapons you don't use nerfed, and the ones you do use buffed. But here's the thing. I go round after round in FW where a tank will spawn, and I'm the only one out there hitting with any kind of AV. Since I'm only skilled for Militia Swarm launchers, it's not doing much.
Have you heard the phrase "adapt or die" getting thrown around? That's because if you don't adapt to new situations, you die. Don't just expect someone else to do it. You do it to. I went the round I just did 0 - 0 trying to line up shots on a tank that everyone else just seemed to want to pretend didn't exist, or were trying to shoot it with an Assault Rifle as if the rumours that it's OP were true.
Yes, I'm sorry, I realise this is an angry rant, but I'm not asking CCP to change the game. I'm asking the players to adapt. Or die. Your choice. I know you like that one gun you keep spawning with all the time, but if you don't learn how to use other stuff, then you aren't adapting. And it's probably why you keep complaining that this or that need a nerf or buff. It's how you use them that counts, or what you're using it on, and in what circumstances.
Interestingly, I'm not losing anything when I get into one of these matches where everyone just tries to fight everything with their one favourite fit that they'll never change for anything. So usually, in a poorly organised team, I'll go hide in the hills somewhere with some anti armour gear or a sniper rifle, and just do my own stuff as well. I don't care about losing the match, because I'm not losing anything myself. But when I'm on a team that knows what it's doing, like the one before this one where I picked up an uber-turret gunner in my Methana and we went on a murder spree (I swear that guy killed as many people with the turret as I did the front bumper, and I only lost the one Methana as well cuz it's not shitfit) and everyone was adapting to changing circumstances, like two tanks that spawned, and got owned by volleys of swarm fire.
What annoys me is the attitude. The "imma go in guns blazing with my GEK" attitude. Maybe I shouldn't care. Maybe I should just let you keep losing, but then you come on here and whine about your weapons not working the way you want, and I just want you to understand why I don't care. Seriously, anyone that's not preparing an AV fit for tank spawns is a moron.

It doesn't take an all-rounder. It takes three people with Militia swarm launchers hitting it at once, hard. Get shot by the tank for all I care, though. |

/end rant GEK attitude is so chromosome. Duvolle Tac is for the cool kids. Anyways I say let the morons die and learn. If they don't want to adapt then let them. It will just increase my kill count. Either way it does not affect me since I have a corp and squad mates that knows what their doing. It might bother me if I do alot of solo pub matches but eff that.
Yeah, that's what it comes down to. Some of my corp are still a bit slow to get into dust, so I'm leading a recruiting drive in-game for guys that impress me. That turret gunner I had impressed me, so I invited him. And I'm also getting as much experience in the game in a wide variety of tools (mostly dropships lately) as possible so when the time comes for our corp to land more boots on the ground, we'll have some rules and organisation to fight by.
I don't even bother with coms. Nobody gets on them in the public FW matches, it's just a free-for-all of 16 players vs an organised team of 16 players most of the time, so what it amounts to is 16 people all trying to solo, each one of them, a full team of 16, instead of working together. When I see organisation, it's usually pretty easy to figure out their strategy, so I follow them around silently, doing what I can to help, watching for gaps or flanking maneuvers and the like, and filling them with gunfire.
The problem is, all these kids are coming in thinking it's a straight game of bullet v bullet. I do enjoy proving them wrong, so maybe I should just shut up and just keep my eyes out for whoever impresses me the most. So far, it's one person, total, that wasn't already in a corp. |

Knightshade Belladonna wrote: I agree with op that people need to get out of the one way only mindset. There is a reason ccp gave us free militia fits for each class, not just to clog our fittings up. I have specialized in gallente assault suits , however it is not always my main choice.. heck some matches I never even pull one out at all. I go by the situation at hand and what I can help the team out the most with at that moment. Which is why I have a Gallente logistics with droplink, nanite injector and a repair tool. Combined with that I also utilize fully my skinweave heavy suit given as gift with a militia grade forge gun, stimulator and av nades. Sometimes for the start of a match I will utilize my skinweave scout suit to quickly traverse the map and capture points quickly, faster than most of the enemy units running their heavies and jumping inside tanks or trying to stay with the pack in their proto assault suits. So next time you see a guy trying to take out a tank, and your wondering why he hasnt yet and you guys keep dying.. don't just keep your same fitting and move elsewhere on the map... take back that ground by finding the nearest supply depot and changing out to atleast the free ccp given militia grade anti armor swarm and help the one guy.. this is a team based game , not everything can be done easy solo
This a thousand times this. I'm glad that some sanity actually exists in this game. I enjoy it and love it too much to let a bunch of COD kiddies dictate how it should be based on their own limited fitting conceptions. Thank you.
Another thing, too, and we see the same thing on EVE. People forget that this is an MMO. MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online. The keyword there is "multiplayer". Why is everyone trying to play a mulitplayer game solo? |

Full Metal Kitten wrote:I have a few situational fits every Lone Wolf should have ready to contribute with:
1. Drop Uplink - Long range weapon like TAR, Cardiac Regulator for long runs, AV nades for comedy cars since you will be alone. Use this when you notice the tide is turning against you and spawn points are diminishing fast. Place drop uplinks in strategic locations near hot areas, but place them behind cover to avoid sniper suppression as bros spawn in.
2. AV baby! CBR7 advanced swarm, no speed or stamina required. Nanohive mandatory! fit a sidearm you are comfortable with in case you have to go 1x1. Use SMG when in doubt. Fit FLUX grenades in case you can get close to the tank you are hunting. Flux wipes out shields so your swarms can hit harder. Use militia swarm if you have no choice. It's better than doing nothing. If you refuse to use swarms, fit flux on your standard suit if you can get close to the tank. Swarm dudes will do the rest. This fit also works great when the starter clown cars are out in droves
3. Close Quarters Combat - No stamina or speed required. Tank it like a brick, and fit a fully automatic weapon. This is where your GEK shines. Locus grenades ideal. Flux also a decent choice if you combine it with a Flaylock sidearm. This fit is for brawling up close, not running around looking for targets.
4. Area Denial - long range weapon. TAR ideal. If feeling frisky, fit a Laser Rifle. :-) Maybe you like being a true sniper despite how boring it is. Always fit AV nades on your long range setups. You are more likely to 1x1 a vehicle than an infantry dude. But... you need a good CQC sidearm just in case. Whichever one you kill better with. This fit is great for hanging back and thinning out Zerg rushes before they overwhelm the frontline.
Anyways, I'm a scrub with a positive KDR, but no leet skillz. Your mileage may vary. OP is right though. Stop trying to force a round peg into a square hole. Tools for the job, boys. Tools for the job.
I have two anti-armour fits. One heavy, for dealing with stuff at close range that tries to hide, like certain tanks, or turrets that are difficult to get a long range bead on. The only heavy I have access to with my SP is the militia one, and there's no equip slot on that. Not sure if there is one on others, but that's what I have for heavy now. So I usually use a LAV to get to position, let loose all my rounds, then use the LAV for some quick recon (cuz it has active scanner and is good for revealing hidden players) and sometimes someone will jump in the turret and if that happens, I'll go murdering as well.
The other AA fit is on a medium, standard, with nanohives. Pretty standard deal with an SMG for self defence, otherwise just tanked to max on armour. Nothing particularly special, but I stay out of LAVs in anything smaller than a heavy suit now. If you've ever been a victim of Angels 2100's sniping, you'll know what I am talking about. Athough, I've given him a few decent runs with a sniper fit of my own. |

CrotchGrab 360 wrote:how is it adapting? it's grinding the game out for months on end in order to use better gear.
hey that proto tank just messed me up! ''adapt or die'' OK I'll see you in 2 months.
Do you honestly not even know how this game works? It's not as simple as deciding you want to take out a tank. You don't just pick up proto AV grenades like you could if they were physical objects in real life.
I'd like to adapt to all the duv tact proto suit users who are kicking my ass but there's nothing I can do yet.
You're still thinking like you need to do it solo. That's why you lose. |

At a minimum, everyone should have Grenades trained to 3.. That's ADV AV Grenades.. If NOTHING ELSE, you should have those, and a fit equipped with them. Even if it's the starter AV fit with AV grenades, that's good enough. There's been plenty of times I've either destroyed or nearly wrecked a tank single handed using a starter fit w/ AV grenades.
This is like Day 1 stuff. Precisely the reason I bring an alt in to Imperial Academy - to introduce n00blets into the Murder Taxi, and why they need AV grenades.
I'm doing them a favor.
#justified
Here's the thing though. You don't need training. I just watch three newbs with no training whack a Gunnlogi with combined militia swarm launcher volleys, then swap back to their assault fits. I know, cuz I was one of them, transported the other two to a vantage point in my Methana and we swatted that tank in a few seconds. |
