Assault dropships give up two passenger slots to fit one small turret. Its meant to drop troops still, but also have the pilot be able to provide fire support for his squad. Further more it has very little shields and armor, i think even less than the myron (tho i have to check) Further more it is a challenge for any pilot to effectively aim and continue flying. Ontop of it all they cost an enormous amount of isk for an LAV turret, mine runs me 1.5 mil. How is this OP in any meaning of the term?
Ok your a dropship pilot, i had no idea that we were addressing the grand messiah of dropship pilots who speaks for all pilots and clearly knows everything dropship related. If you enjoy the transport roll then fly a standard dropship, hell you could even fly a logistic dropship! The DROPSHIP transport roll still exists and has TWO variants!
The best i have done in a game was 12 kills one of those being a milita armor tank, i had to attack it 3 separate times to bring it down, even with my X-T missiles, your friends tank probably got hit by a rail, forge, or swarm and didnt realize it.
If you get killed by a AD in 5 seconds that means its a very experienced pilot who managed to swoop in and line up a shot on you, thats not OP thats SKILL you should learn to appreciate people who are SKILLED at this game and stop bitching about things that you clearly havent thought about very hard. If you cant then go cry in a corner until you HTFU and learn!
also, the Assault dropship is not a gunship.....it clearly has DROPSHIP in its name. Gunships are much more brutal and are designed to take out tanks and blanket areas in heavy fire. A Gunship cannot transport troops thats why its a GUNship not a DROPship everyone should know this difference.
The assault dropship has a nice niche for pilots, it will train pilots well for gunships but also retains its role as a dropship. CCP does not need to fix this, its good enough as it is. If anything dropships should get some health so they can do their job description in their info.
