I was surprised to find that there's not much difference when it comes to playing pre-Uprising character and a new one. I found it easy to access the necessary basic skills to mow down most of the enemies. I think this is unbalanced a bit. And it' s not just because they're noobs. My pre-Uprising character is almost 4 months old and he's pretty much the same as the new one. Because of that, I'm actually pretty happy either way. I'm loving the new character partially due to his backstory and lore. When it comes down to it, it's really our real skills from playing regardless of what we put our SP in. And if you're wondering, I'm playing the same Gallente sniper, but an Intaki one this time. |

That's because snipers require minimal SP investments. Try making a heavy alt and tell me it is exactly the same as all the prototype heavies you see raping face. This is actually coming from personal experience, my starting SP barely got me an HMG, let alone starter core skills, the heavy dropsuit itself, and modules. |

I wouldn't have known because I haven't played the other roles yet. Thanks for the input. |

Why? Are the Intakis overpowered? |

I specked in to the Amaar Heavy, but I have to wait for my own race heavy before I get anywhere. I've also been rocking a level 5 assault suit, and apart from the modules there is very little difference. I remember in the last, last spec, many moons ago. I used to rock a proto suit for one of them, but then you can always just get run over. So so far, there is very little difference in the suits and vehicles. Here's hoping for a full SP tree.
I haven't brought one thing in the market/skills. As this also seems to make no difference. Just the skill tree itself. |

Seems to me that as a totally new player you'd want to plan some type of progression.
Possibly start out in support roles where you don't die so often that you can't pay for your (still cheap) suits. Work up into some decent basic suits and skill up in general skills that apply to most later choices.
Later, pick a specialization... and slowly work into it as the SP keeps coming in.
Maybe that's too EVE like for folks around here? |
