If I remember correctly, we have three types of Strikes available when having EVE players available depending on their Ammo. Laser for fast, high damage in a small radius. Hybrid for something similar to the Precision Strike with a larger radius and a EMP one that kills off all the shields in a large radius.
Now, I've not seen a single person use the EMP, if we have an EVE Pilot available, they let us know they have Hybrid or Laser.. no EMP :(
The reason I can see it that the EMP is pretty damn useless, sure it fries placed equipment such as nanohives and uplinks as well as shields of vehicles and dropsuits.. but it isn't useful compared to blasting it all with a Hybrid.
So, I was thinking, make it useful
Instead, give it some additional functions.
- Frying of Installations, resetting them to Neutral, Includes Turrets, Supply Depots and CRUs. The benefits of using the strike for this very reason would be huge. Want to assault an area but the CRU and Supply depot are a massive nuisance? EMP it, assault, no more spawns as everyone is running around like AMAGAD OB.
- Area of Denial that lasts up to 30 seconds for all Shields.(Make them have an area of effect that lasts for a while that continuously drains shields, despite being a Shield Tanker I could see the benefit in having this, but could also see why people wouldn't like it
- If the above doesn't work, instead have HUD issues when an area is EMP'd after a while, fading and fuzzing, static noises for everything that lasts for 30 seconds.

Uhh... Did you mean the EM OB? There are 4 types of damage in EVE: Electromagnetic (EM) - electric damage generally dealt with lasers or flux grenades, does high damage to shields and low damage to armor
Thermal (Therm) - incendiary damage dealt with hybrid weapons (blasters and railguns), does relatively equal damage to shields and armor
Explosive (Exp) - concussive force produced by grenades/missiles/etc, hurts armor pretty bad and doesn't do much to shields
Kinetic (Kin) - direct damage through contact caused by physical bullets, will hurt armor a little more than shieldselds.
The EM strike will do massive damage to anything with a tank heavily reliant on shields, but an armor HAV could probably make it out. It is not an EMP. |

Could be that I'm wrong, I don't play EVE and I keep hearing EMP/Laser/Hybrid strikes. Even if I'm wrong, the shield strike is useless really. I mean why would the EM Strike be beneficial? If you want to kill my shield tank, use a Hybrid so I don't escape, not EM me and give me a chance to leave. |
