Hey Folks,
As the author of the original Strategic Map of Molden Heath, I think the next logical step in the mapping process is collecting information about what heightmap (terrain mesh) is used for each of the districts.
I don't yet have an efficient way to do this (no CREST/API yet), so I'm asking for people to post the information here. Once I get enough of them, I will collate into a nice format. In the interim, by posting the information here it's public and provides no unfair advantages to anyone.
Please use this format:
Planet: District: Map:
Note that I'm not asking about the Surface Infrastructure because that could change tomorrow. Ultimately, it's less imporant since clever players can extrapolate building locations based on the map name and the SI listed at the time of the attack.
I'm also not asking about the theme or flavor of the map. It's cool info, but I think it can wait for when we can pull info from the database. |

I thought it is an advantage to be prepared for a certain map while the enemy isn't? And if a corp decides to attack with owning that district in mind wouldn't they want to keep it a secret too?
So why would a corp share the maps of their district here? |

Honestly knowing or not knowing is a moot point considering that we've played every iteration of every map several dozen times. We practically know which objectives are most important already be it through youtube, running the maps themselves or what have you. Though he's just asking, and it never hurts to ask. |

Why would I share a map of the entire region a month before PC started?
I did it for the sake of the game.
There is certainly something to be said for keeping secrets, however these particular secrets won't be secrets forever.
I got a look at how a district looks to the database. All of the information about the map and the buildings is in that DB entry. At some point, we will be able to read that information directly and someone will publish human-readable information in pseudo-realtime (like Dotlan does).
In the meantime, all someone has to do to find out the map is to attack a district. So while the defender would have an advantage the first battle, both sides would be on even footing (for intel) on the second battle.
This is also an opportunity for corps that LOSE battles in PC to tweak the owners. |
