Many of us feel as though these new weapons are underwhelming. I personally feel as though the Plasma Cannon lacks any distinctive role on the battlefield that isn't easily usurped by other weapons.

Perhaps the CPM could give us their thoughts on how they are operating?

I personally feel as if balance throughout the last year (Give or take a month or two) has been nothing more than band-aid 'fixes' that never really solved the underlying issues.

In uprising, that small cut that only needed a bandaid.... it turned into a festering, open gash.

The disruption of the skill tree coupled with the near complete revamp of the suits with almost no logical variation between them was boggling at best. Several weapons were adjusted, but again, these were more band-aid fixes than actual solutions to our balance woes.

The new suits increased the general survivability of players, and new suits with strange slot layouts or certain bonuses made some vastly superior to other suits of similar type and tier...

 But I digress :

Under the old base line of 'power' I would've considered nearly all of the weapons OP, yet mostly redundant in their roles.

The flaylock is basically a mini mass driver that overshadows it in every aspect except splash range.

The plasma cannon is an unholy offpsring of a forge gun and a mass driver, less effective than either in most cases.

The scrambler rifle is probably the only 'decent' weapon of the three that I wouldn't consider OP. Aside from some minor range differences, it's basically a clone of the assault rifle with similar damage, with an overheat. Which is fine, because it stands to reason that every race would have some sort of 'AR' as their go-to weapon for infantry. I haven't touched it on the live build, but my experience with the scrambler is that it needs to overheat -slightly- slower, and that's all I would change on it for the most part.

 agreed +1

the only new weapon I have been liking is the scrambler rifle. the only problem with it is that it over heats way to fast.

imho, Fozzie, Rise and Ytterbium should totally take over the weapons balancing in dust (or at least teach wolfman and remnant how to do it)

these guys know how to balance stuff and how to interact with the community in that regard. For dust, the whole weapon balancing has been a complete and utter failure in every single regard

the whole "core gameplay" talking is rubbish if the core gameplay is overshadowed by badly balanced stuff

For the Plasma Rifle: AoE DoT, basically a puddle of plasma, low initial damage, but high damage over time for whoever stands in it

Don't worry another guy is taking over and you wont be too upset with him when he starts pushing blogs out.

I hope so, CCP doesn't exactly have the luxury of time with balancing weapons and dropsuits in DUST like they've had with ships and weapons in EVE, although with the last couple of expansions, they seem to be learning.

Is this something the CPM plans to touch up on in the future? Perhaps by persuading CCP in the right direction to properly add variation, balance and practicality?

That's the CPM's job. Trying to bring the consensus of the playerbase (or rather, the forumbase) to CCP's attention. Whether or not CCP chooses to listen and/or act upon what we want is a different stoy entirely. CPM gets all the workload of sorting the garbage and get saddled with the consequences that should be CCP's when they choose not to do what we want (or do it wrong).

Its player base we're expected to be in many places like tweetfleet and the sorts.

And neither do most FPS players. They care about their KDR or about game balance.

If I have to choose between lore and balance I know which will keep the game going longer.

The Plasma Cannon has it's place. A few of us have found it. It requires neither a buff nor a nerf.

 3 bugs / annoying features:

 1. A delay in being able to switch weapons upwards of 1.0 second after fire.
 2. Occasional fire of the round without requiring a charge, and this is random about 1% of the time.
 3. The arc of the projectile that is used is unlike any other weapon. After each round you need to reload and the reload animation fills the area of the screen where any target would be that is more than 50 yards out. There is no hit marker on this weapon, so you will find it incredibly difficult to fine tune a shot when shooting long range.
